The 40-year-old princess was joined by her husband Prince William on a trip to Clitheroe Community Hospital in Lancashire. After thanking NHS staff for their valiant efforts throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Kate was presented with “therapy puppy” Alfie.
The apricot cockapoo will be trained to support patients and colleagues at the hospital.
And the mother-of-three could hardly contain her enjoyment at cuddling the puppy – much to the delight of royal fans.
User Tony Kappas wrote: “Gorgeous.”
Astro.asal said: “Thank you for your efforts. Wonderful couple.”
Kate sent royal fans into meltdown with the snaps
Ruth Steyert commented: “(I) love how taken they are with the pup.”
Yohana Castillo simply wrote: “PW (Prince William) and DoC (the Duchess of Cambridge) with that dog!!”
And looking to the future, Florizza Ximena said: “We’re just so lucky to have you both as next King and Queen.”
While holding Alfie, Kate could be heard saying: “You are so sweet. You match my coat.”
She then spoke about her own dog – a cocker spaniel – whose name has not been revealed.
Speaking about the dog – which her brother James gifted to the royal couple last year – Kate added: “Our dog is going to be very excited.
“She’s going to be like: ‘Where have you been? Who have you been seeing?’”
On their official Instagram page, the royal couple shared pictures of the day which included several of Alfie.

The snaps were captioned: “At Clitheroe Community Hospital in Lancashire today to meet with staff who work both in the hospital and across this rural community and hear about their experience of responding to COVID-19.
“Pressures across the local system have meant that teams here have felt the strain of the pandemic.
“Thankfully, @nhscharitiestogether has provided invaluable mental wellbeing support to staff throughout this period.
“As well as a staff wellbeing room, funding has provided two therapy dogs – six-year-old Jasper and Alfie, who is brand new to the team!”
