KATE, the Duchess of Cambridge, and her daughter Charlotte have shared a touching moment today at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Prince William was also present at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were not joined by their other two children, Princes George and Louis.

Also present, however, was the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their children, Lady Louise and James.

Prince Edward is Vice Patron of the Commonwealth Games.

“The XXII Commonwealth Games is about to get underway and for the next 11 days all eyes will be on Birmingham and the West Midlands of England.

“To all athletes, officials, spectators and visitors I bid you a very warm welcome and thank you all for coming.

“It simply wouldn’t be the great festival of sport it is without you.”games

This was the Cambridges’ first appearance at the Commonwealth Games.

It comes shortly after the Duke of Cambridge was present at the England women’s Euro 2022 final match against Germany on Sunday.William, Kate and Charlotte

The games were kicked off last Friday when Prince Charles and Camilla arrived at the opening ceremony in a blue soft-top car.

As they did so, 72 other red, white or blue cars pulled up in the Alexander Stadium.

Together, these formed a Union Flag.

Prince Charles is understood to have posed for photos with athletes who are now taking part in the games before this ceremony began.

He also visited the main athletes’ village.

The Prince of Wales was representing The Queen, who was not able to attend the event.
