KATE and Prince William’s plans to visit Australia have been put on the back burner, as Princess Anne prepares to visit New South Wales with the Royal Agricultural Society.

Prince William and Kate are reportedly no longer expected to visit Australia in the coming months, as Princess Anne is believed to be heading to the Commonwealth country in early 2022. The Princess Royal will visit New South Wales in her capacity as President of the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth, her first trip to the country since 2009.

Royal expert Russell Myers told the Australian Today programme: “[email protected] were supposed to have William and Kate’s tour, to come over and see the heroic men and women battling the bushfires – that seems so long ago.

“Then we had the pandemic and now there is a potential for Princess Anne to come over to New South Wales with the Royal Agricultural Society, possibly in early 2022.

“I’m really excited about it, you should be as well and hopefully we shall all be Covid-free and we’ll all be living a very normal life and welcoming members of the Royal Family once again.”

Prince William and Kate had been well-received by the Australian public during their 3-week tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2014.

The tour had also marked Prince George’s first trip overseas, as he accompanied his parents around Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Canberra.

Following the bushfires in New South Wales that occurred during the summer season of 2019-2020, it was widely speculated that the Cambridges would visit the region to meet with locals and first responders.

Australia suffered one of its worst bushfires during this period, destroying over 5,000 buildings and killing 34 people, including a number of firefighters.

The fires raged from September 2019 until March 2020, burning an estimated 18.6 million hectares of land.

During this period, Prince William and Kate sent a message of solidarity to the victims of the bushfire, writing on Instagram: “We send our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who have tragically lost their lives, and the brave firefighters who continue to risk their own lives to save the lives of others.”

It was then reported that Prime Minister Scott Morrison was expected to extend an invitation to the couple to visit.

However, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the tour never took place.

Recent reports however, say that Princess Anne is expected to visit the Commonwealth country in March and April, to coincide with the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

The annual Easter show event is hosted by the Royal Agricultural Society, of which Princess Anne is the President.

She took over the role from her father, the Duke of Edinburgh in 2011, although he remained a Patron of the society until his death earlier this year.

Several members of the Royal Family are expected to conduct tours across Britian and the Commonwealth over the next year, as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration.

Queen Elizabeth II will be celebrating 70 years on the throne, with a four-day bank holiday due to take place between the 2nd-5th of June.
