Prince William and Kate wedding anniversary: Royal couple’s love story in pictures
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary tomorrow. Here is a look at Prince William and Kate’s love story in pictures.
William and Kate meet
Prince William and Kate met at the prestigious University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland, in 2001. Two years later they began dating, although they kept the information on the quiet side.
They lived together in the same halls of residence in the first year, St Salvator’s, and later shared a residence for two years.
Kate admitted that the first time she met the young Prince she was overwhelmed and ran away.
“Well I actually think I went bright red when I met you and sort of scuttled off, feeling very shy about meeting you,” she told ITV news.
“Actually William wasn’t there for quite a bit of the time initially, he wasn’t there for Freshers Week, so it did take a bit of time for us to get to know each other but we did become very close friends from quite early on.”
William and Kate get married
Kate and William officially announced their engagement in November, 2010, but the Prince proposed a month earlier on a private holiday in Kenya.
Kate’s diamond and saphire engagement ring once belonged to Williams mother, Princess Diana of Wales.

“We both have a very good sense of humour and we take the mickey out of each other a lot.”
The two tied the wedding knot on Friday April 29, 2011, in Westminster Abbey in London, cheered on by hundreds of thousands of members of the public.
Millions of people around the world watched the iconic moment Kate and William kissed on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
William and Kate welcome Prince George
On the afternoon of July 22, 2013, the Duchess of Cambridge delivered a healthy baby boy at St Mary’s hospital in London.
Just a day later the world caught a glimpse of the baby Prince, and on July 24 the Royal couple declared the boy would be named George Alexander Louis.
Prince George who is third in line to the throne after his father and Prince Charles, has been accompanying his parents on various official tours.
In April 2014 he joined the Duke and Duchess on a three week tour of Australia and New Zealand and in September 2016 the Prince was introduced to Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau.
William and Kate welcome Princess Charlotte
On May 2, 2015, William and Kate had their second child, a daughter they named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
Princess Charlotte was christened in July at the Church of St Mary Magdalene in Sandringham.
In March 2016, the little Princess and her brother were taken to the French Alps – her first full family holiday.

Just two months after the grand wedding, Kate and William were on their first official tour, when they visited Canada in July 2011.
The couple visited a rodeo, met with ill children at a hospice and took part in official Canada Day Celebrations.
Next year in September they visited the Far East for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, which took them from Singapore to the Solomon Islands.
In April 2016 Kate and William left for a tour of India and Bhutan, where they played cricket, fed baby elephants and met Bollywood stars.
This year in March they visited Paris on their first official visit to France, and met with President Francois Hollande as guests of the French Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
