Karma catches up with Prince Charles’ cousin who left pregnant wife for her friend
After I reported last week that Ashley Hicks had dumped his pregnant American wife, Kata de Solis, for one of her best friends, Martina Mondadori Sartogo, the lovebirds have already called it quits, Sartogo’s publicist confirms.
Sartogo — the godmother of Kata and Ashley’s infant son, Caspian, and the founder of luxury design magazine Cabana — was instantly hit with Instagram commenters alluding to the affair and suggesting she’s a homewrecker.
“Things have turned nasty for the new couple,” a source close to the family said.
So Sartogo, who is married with three children, has broken up with Hicks in order to save her reputation.
“She was in love with Ashley until she realized everyone was going to hate her. So she has bailed,” said my source.
In a July 17 email to Hicks, Sartogo mentions a staffer “who I am sure is maybe wondering why I am constantly planning trips with you haha.”
Before Hicks confessed his cheating to Kata in mid-August, he and Sartogo had been planning romantic trips all over Italy — ostensibly to photograph palazzos for her magazine and other book projects.
Hicks’ new Rizzoli book, “Buckingham Palace: The Interiors” — with a foreword by his second cousin, Prince Charles — is supposed to be celebrated Oct. 2 with a launch party at a Ralph Lauren store in London, but some invited guests say they got emails on Tuesday saying the event was canceled.
Attempts to reach Hicks and Sartogo were unsuccessful.
