Is this the REAL reason behind Kate Middleton’s green BAFTAs dress?
KATE MIDDLETON, 36, broke with an unofficial dress code at the BAFTAs when she wore a green dress. Most female celebrities wore black to support the Time’s Up movement. Is this the real reason Kate opted for the green gown?
Kate Middleton, 36, is the wife of the second-in-line to the British throne, Prince William.
The pregnant Duchess is already a mother-of-two, to Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, two.
The royal shocked at the BAFTAs on Sunday night when she opted for a green dress, standing out in a sea of black.
Many women chose to wear black at the event to protest against sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry.
It was hotly debated whether Kate should wear black in solidarity or whether she should opt for another colour.
The royals are supposed to follow a strict code of impartiality, which some might consider to have been broken if Kate stepped out in the dark hue.
However, Kate Middleton wore a green dress at the BAFTAs.
However, this choice may actually not have been down the royal impartiality rules at all.
Kate may have worn olive green due to her pregnancy.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl told TMZ: “Kate’s dress was likely pre-ordered months ago and custom-made with her pregnancy in mind.”
This would mean that the Duchess would have very few black options to switch to for the awards ceremony.
Kate is also often rarely seen in black, although she did wear a black gown to last year’s BAFTA’s.
Since the Duchess is not keen on wearing black, she would be unlikely to have a black back-up dress to hand.
Black is a traditional mourning colour, which is thought to be why the royals avoid the hue unless attending a funeral.
Kate Middleton appeared at Buckingham Palace last night for the Commonwealth Fashion Exchange reception.
She stepped out in an elegant floral Erdem dress. The black and white gown flattered the pregnant royals figure with elbow length sleeves and a calf-length skirt
