The King made his way through a sea of royal fans, greeting them upon arriving in Germany on Wednesday afternoon. At one point, a fan was spotted leaning forward, offering the monarch a random gift – a paper crown from popular fast-food restaurant, Burger King.

In response, the King smiled before simply replying with, “No, I’m alright”.

The King also grinned as he declined another crown from a woman who said: “I have a present for you”.

The King, who was joined by the Queen Consort, arrived in Germany ahead of a three-day jam-packed tour.

The couple’s visit marks their first overseas trip since Charles ascended the throne six months ago.

The couple’s first stop of the royal tour was meant to be to France, with Germany being the intended second stop.

The royal couple were meant to arrive in France on March 26, but violent protests forced the visit to be cancelled.

However, the French reportedly feared for the King’s safety, leading the visit being cancelled.

The King’s pending visit was not the reason for the visit, although there were concerns the tour would make the protests worse.

The protests began after French President, Emmanuel Macron made a decision to raise the current retirement age by two years.

This was seemingly the first time that a cancellation of a visit has been proposed.

Speaking to the Mirror after the news of the cancellation, former head of Royal Protection, Dai Davies claimed he has “never heard of” a visit being cancelled before.

Despite this, it was noted that the Germany arm of the tour was still going ahead.

Mr Davies said that these things “are not done lightly”, adding that, as it was for safety reasons, it was the “right decision”.
