Zara Tindall devastated after death of her favourite horse Toytown
ZARA Tindall is mourning the death of her favourite horse Toytown who won her many awards during their long career together.
The Queen’s granddaughter and the chestnut gelding were partners for almost 20 years and won individual gold and team silver at the 2006 World Equestrian Games.
Toytown, born in 1992, officially retired in 2011 but reemerged briefly for the 2012 Olympics when he carried the torch with Zara on board during part of the relay.
Zara once said: “I don’t think I am ever going to find another horse quite like him.
“He was the horse of a lifetime for me. We grew up together, we went through the levels together.
“His movement, his character, it all combined to make the complete horse. And cross-country, he was just a machine.”
Toytown spent his retirement at the royals’ Gatcombe Estate where the Tindall family live alongside The Princess Royal.
In a tribute, Zara’s husband Mike Tindall said: “Sad to say goodbye to the big man today, been a massive part of our lives giving us so many highs! RIP Toytown.”
