MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry released a statement last week on their situation after Megxit – but it contained a cryptic phrase that points to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, according to a royal expert.
Meghan and Harry stepped down from their senior royal roles at the beginning of this year. While the couple will still be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they have given up the use of their HRH titles. This means that their brand, Sussex Royal, must be altered as the pair are now no longer working members of the Royal Family.
The Duke and Duchess released a highly-scrutinised statement on their website last week which addressed the issue – and appeared to reference Harry’s cousins Beatrice and Eugenie, too.
In part, it read: “While there is precedent for other titled members of the Royal Family to seek employment outside of the institution, for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a 12-month review period has been put in place.”
In this week’s latest episode, Mr Myers said: “Certainly, it was put to me, talking about the precedent that other members of the Royal Family have been able to go out and earn their keep – that was speaking about Beatrice and Eugenie.”

He continued: “The issue is, why are you comparing yourself to two minor royals?
“When Harry and Meghan have had these big, massive plans, that shouldn’t really come into it.
“It feels like they’ve had their wings clipped a bit and there is a bit of animosity.
“We know this anyway, because they had spent a lot of money, making Sussex Royal, trademarking all the items that they had and that was their plan to go off and market themselves as such.

“This isn’t opinion, this is fact.
“Now that they’ve been told they can’t do that, they’re facing an embarrassing climbdown.”
Harry and Meghan’s new position after their royal exit differs from that of Beatrice and Eugenie in several ways.
The daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are much further down the line of succession than Prince Harry, and they have never been working royals.

The princesses both started careers after university, with Beatrice working for a software company and Eugenie in the art world.
Nevertheless, Beatrice and Eugenie’s father Prince Andrew has fought for the girls’ status and royal funding in the past.
As recently as 2016 he sent a letter to the Queen to ask that the girls receive Sovereign Grant funding, which Her Majesty denied.
Beatrice and Eugenie do have HRH titles, as they are directly related to the Queen, and they do make appearances at some family occasions.
However, they do not use the titles in their professional lives.
Their mother Sarah Ferguson, affectionately known as Fergie, lost her HRH title in her 1996 divorce – which allowed her to go on to pursue commercial deals without affecting the royal name.
Indeed there has been controversy in the past when it has been perceived that members of the Royal Family could be trading on their royal connections.
The Countess of Wessex courted controversy in 2002 when her PR firm became embroiled in a fake sheikh sting, resulting in Sophie having to stand down from her career.
