A Palace spokesperson told the Mail on Sunday: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a contribution of £2.4 million to the Sovereign Grant which covered the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage. They have fulfilled their financial obligations in relation to the property.
“In line with usual practice for the Sovereign Grant report, the accounting treatment was scrutinised and signed off by the National Audit Office and the Treasury. As with any such agreement between landlord and tenant, further details regarding the Sussexes’ tenancy arrangements would be a private matter.”
It’s estimated Frogmore Cottage, in which Meghan and Harry lived until mid-November 2019 before taking a six-week break from royal duties to Canada and subsequently taking the decision to remain in North America, would cost between £150,000 and £230,000 a year in rent. With their payment, the Sussexes may have saved up to £690,000.

Why Sarah Ferguson got to keep her royal tiara after her divorce from Prince Andrew
The Duchess of York was able to keep a few pieces of jewellery despite breaking away from the Royal Family after her divorce.
This included her stunning wedding tiara. Fergie wowed royal fans in 1986 by wearing two headpieces at her wedding, a tiara and a flower crown.
The tiara was a gift from Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, unlike the majority of the tiaras worn at British royal weddings, which are typically borrowed from the royal collection.
Fergie wore the glittering “York Tiara” on royal engagements for the following 10 years because it was her own property.
This included when she visited Australia and Canada and even after she and Prince Andrew got divorced.
Fergie also donned the pricey headgear to Elton John’s 2001 white tie event.

William praised Kate ‘to the roof’ in latest royal outing as pair ‘admired each other’
The Prince of Wales praised his wife “to the roof” on Friday, royal biographer Angela Levin said.
Kate and William attended the parade in Aldershot traditionally held on St Patrick’s Day.
While this was far from being their first attendance at this yearly event, this year’s parade was particularly poignant for Kate and William, as it saw the prince officially passing on his title of colonel of the regiment to his wife.
Speaking about the royal engagement, Ms Levin said on GB News: “He said she would be very dutiful and very hardworking, he praised her to the roof.
“And when she went on she said how grateful she was and thought it was a real honour, I just thought it was a real nice royal behaviour of actually admiring each other.”
As noted by Ms Levin, the heir to the throne didn’t spare compliments for Kate.

Kate and Carole Middleton show close bond through their ‘beautiful and elegant’ jewellery
Given how close Kate, Princess of Wales, and her mother Carole Middleton are, it is expected that they have similar senses of style.
During an outing together in 2019, the mother-daughter duo certainly demonstrated this.
The two decided to wear stunning jewels from the same brand to attend the King’s Cup sailing regatta.
Meghan and Harry warned new attacks on Firm risk Sussexes looking like reality TV stars
Meghan and Prince Harry have been advised against carrying on with their criticism of the Royal Family.
Reputation management expert Edward Coram-James argued the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have to lose both on a professional and personal level if they carry on speaking about their UK-based relatives as they have done in past months.
The risk of airing more grievances and unveiling more royal secrets, the commentator said, is for the Sussexes to be likened to “reality television personalities”.

Harry and Meghan made themselves ‘low hanging fruit’ for Hollywood comedians ex-pal says
A former friend of Meghan has told Express she and Prince Harry have now become “low hanging fruit for Hollywood comedians”.
Nick Ede met Meghan when he asked her to co-host the Global Gift Giving Gala in 2013 and remained close with her for a number of years before “she had to cull her friends”.
He said: “I don’t think they would have thought that people like Trevor Noah, for instance, would joke about them at the Grammys and that it would be humiliating.
“James Corden’s had Harry on his bus and now suddenly he’s joking about them. I think there was a massive miscalculation there from them.”
Nick went on: “Humour is always about the zeitgeist of what’s going on. It’s about what’s happening now, so they’re the sort of low hanging fruit.”
He added that Meghan and Harry’s behaviour was “going to start to grate on people”.

Harry and Meghan’s ‘balcony demand’ which could fuel coronation chaos for King Charles
King Charles III’s Coronation could be plunged into chaos due to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “demands”, a palace insider has claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be refusing to accept the invitation to the historic event until their requests are agreed to.
The world is poised to see if the royals will make the trip across the pond from the US to London later this year for the prestigious event, with no official confirmation yet in sight.
Claims centre on “tense negotiations” with the Royal Family about their role in the celebrations. One big issue is how the Duke and Duchess’s children Prince Archie, three, and one-year-old Princess Lilibet, will be included on the day.
And the insider also told OK! Magazine that Harry and Meghan also want to be allowed to have places on the Buckingham Palace balcony, alongside the working royals.
