Harry and Meghan Markle Wedding: Will the Duchess of Cambridge have an official role?
With The Royal wedding taking place just weeks after the Duchess of Cambridge is due to give birth to her third child, speculation has been building as to what role the Royal will play at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
While it has already been confirmed Kate is likely to attend the wedding, she will not have an official role on the day with both Prince Harry and his bride-to-be said to be keen to ensure there is “no pressure” on their sister-in-law.
A source said: “Frankly, Harry and Meghan are just happy that Kate will be there given she will only just have given birth.
“They have told her there is no pressure on her to do anything, they just want her to enjoy the day.”
There had been speculation the Duchess of Cambridge might have been a bridesmaid for the day but the source appears to have put a stop to the rumour.
They added: “They just want Kate to be able to enjoy the day and not worry about anything.
“Harry has said there’s no pressure on her to do anything.
“They know Kate will have her hands full.”
Kate may appreciate the lack of an official role after being tasked with the role of keeping the young pageboys and bridesmaids in check at her sister’s wedding last year.
Kate, although not an official bridesmaid, was supervising the group of very young – and by the looks of things, very excitable – bridesmaids and pageboys as they went into the church.
At one point she could be seen gesturing to the group of adorable little children to ‘shush’ just before they entered the church in Englefield where Pippa Middleton tied the knot with financier James Matthews, 41.
The Duchess of Cambridge could be seen warning the group of youngsters to behave – which included her own children.
The lack of an official role in the royal wedding for the Duchess may also turn out to be a smart one, as it has been revealed it is still possible she may be unable to attend.
Clare Byam-Cook, breastfeeding expert and speaker at The Baby Show, told Express.co.uk: “If she has a very traumatic delivery, she may prefer to stay at home and recover from the birth.”
However, the chances of such problems are believed to be small.
Clare added any type of traumatic birth is “unlikely when Kate is under the care of one of the top obstetricians in the country.”
