‘Forget UK – they’re GLOBAL!’ Meghan and Harry fans fuming at YouGov poll slump

MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry supporters have raged on social media after a YouGov poll suggested their popularity has slumped in the UK.

The survey suggested positive opinion of both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has fallen in recent months. For Prince Harry, positive opinion amongst the British public has fallen by nine points, from 43 percent in April to 34 percent in August.

Meghan also saw a decline and was down from 29 percent to 26 percent in the same period.

The results have triggered a furious backlash from supporters of the Sussexes on Twitter.

One user tweeted: “Does @YouGov still think Harry and Meghan popularity is low? Propaganda won’t work, this couple is global.”

The post referenced the influence of Meghan and referred to a bag she was carrying following her engagement to Prince Harry in 2017, which is said to have sold-out in just 11 minutes.

Others jumped to the defence of the couple and responded to the poll on Twitter.

One user said: “The UK is not the world. California is bigger than the UK. Get real.”

A second added: “Pointless exercise, as H&M long ago realised the UK isn’t their market and, instead, they will be successful with their particular brand elsewhere.”

Meanwhile, a third wrote: “Somehow I don’t think they are bothered.”

The latest opinion poll took place almost 18 months after the couple decided to quit the Royal Family for life in LA.

The survey also suggested Harry and Meghan divided opinion amongst younger people.

Of those aged between 18 and 24, the survey found 47 percent had a positive view of Harry and 44 percent held a negative one.

Meghan scored higher with 50 percent in favour versus 40 percent.

Royal commentator Christina Garibaldi raised concerns over the slump in approval.

Speaking on the Royally Us podcast, she said: “It seems that the couple are also losing some support amongst young Brits, which is interesting because they have always gotten a lot of support from them, but it seems their approval ratings have dropped a little bit.”

The YouGov poll also suggested the Queen, 95, remains the most popular Royal Family member.

It found 80 percent of the public hold a positive opinion of the monarch.

Prince William came in second on 78 percent – more than double the score of his younger brother.

Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, came a close third on 75 percent.

The YouGov survey of 1,667 UK adults took place from August 27-29 and compared dates from April 21-22.
