Reception at Buckingham Palace, 2016
Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, were present to support the Queen at Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace in 2016. The annual evening reception for members of the Diplomatic Corps was also attended by Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.
State Opening of Parliament, 2019
In previous years, the Queen was often accompanied to the State Opening of Parliament by her husband, Prince Philip. But in 2019, Prince Charles was seated next to the Queen at Westminster for the traditional ceremony.
State Opening of Parliament, 2021
Charles also escorted the Queen to the State Opening of Parliament in 2021. Also in attendance was Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and the pair sat in seats slightly away from the Queen for the ceremony.
The Queen had to cancel her appearance at the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow this November due to health reasons. But in her absence, Prince Charles led the royal contingent at the summit, which included Camilla, William and Kate. Charles also gave a speech during the opening ceremony.
