Fergie and Prince Andrew ‘remain close’ and have lived together for ‘quite some time’
Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew have stayed close after their divorce, with the Duchess of York living at the Royal Lodge “for quite some time”, says royal expert James Brookes.
Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, who are parents to Princess Beatrice and newlywed Princess Eugenie, have remained close since their divorce, according to a royal insider.
Expert James Brookes told Express.co.uk: “They have remained close.
“The Duchess has been living at the Royal Lodge for quite some time anyway.
“I think naturally when you’re planning the wedding of your child, it’s one of those moments that any parent will be very proud of.
“They’ll be very mindful of the fact that they’ll want to give the bride and groom their own stamp on things.
“But at the same time they do want to be involved and they do want to lead them down the right path, and make sure whatever help and support they need ahead of that time, it’s there.”
Mr Brookes added: “Since they divorced they’ve never had what you would sometimes expect when a divorce comes up.
“That the pair would cut off all ties and don’t want to be seen or speak to each other.
Actually with Sarah and Andrew that’s been different.”
Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew married in July 1986 and divorced in May 1996.
Rumours of the pair remarrying have been on the rise since Prince Andrew posted a birthday message on Sarah Ferguson’s Twitter page on Monday.
He congratulated the 59-year old saying: “Happy birthday to @SarahTheDuchess” and posted a photo of her in a blue dress captioned: “Wishing you a very happy day”.
Since the wedding of Princess Eugenie last week to Jack Brooksbank, many have commented on the Duke of York and his ex-wife’s united front at their daughter’s wedding.
They sat together at the ceremony of their daughter’s marriage and stood next to each other for the official wedding portraits.
Countless fans are hoping for a third Royal wedding, believing Andrew and Fergie are still in love and asking Sarah to “Marry her Prince”.
Encouraging comments on Twitter included: “Marry your man Sarah you are meant to be together”, “Are you and Andrew next?”, and another commenting: “The royal wedding of the decade would be Sarah and Andrew remarrying. I’d die.”
The pair have also been pictured attending Ascot together, with fans believing this to confirm their suspicions, especially since they both live at the Royal Lodge in Windsor and were recently pictured enjoying a horse ride together.
Fergie explained in a 2016 interview for an Australian radio show: “I’m in and out all the time, and he’s in and out all the time.” She also declared they are “happy with the way things are”.
