Kate shocks viewers with ‘cream’ coat as bride Meghan Markle wows in white
THE DUCHESS of Cambridge caught viewers by surprise after she sported a “cream coloured” dress coat for the Royal Wedding, with speculations rising as to whether Kate was intentionally trying to upstage Meghan Markle.
The Duchess arrived to the wedding in a Alexander McQueen dress, which looked astonishingly close to white – causing viewers to lash out at the Duchess’ outfit choice.
Social media users took to Twitter to express their outrage, claiming the Duchess was trying to upstage Meghan on her big day despite Kensington Palace saying the coat was “primrose yellow”.
One said: “I swear if Kate was at my wedding and she turned up in white she would get punted out quicker than you could f***ing say Royal Wedding.”
Another added: “I can’t believe Kate has gone and worn white/cream on the day of another Royal Wedding.”
Viewers were also quick to notice she had worn the same outfit four times before.
One person tweeted: “WHY IS KATE WEARING WHITE!?!?! You never wear white at a wedding unless you are a bride.”
Another said: “Why is Kate wearing white? Send her home!”
Viewers were also quick to notice she had worn the same outfit four times, after she was seen in the exact same dress for Princess Charlotte’s christening in 2015, Trooping the Colour in 2016 and the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele in 2017.
Despite widespread criticism, others praised Kate’s for looking elegant on the day, as she arrived with her daughter, Princess Charlotte, who was appointed as one of Ms Markle’s bridesmaids.
Kensington Palace said: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge will be wearing a primrose yellow wool silk tailored coat by Alexander McQueen.
“The Duchess of Cambridge is wearing a hat designed by Philip Treacy and shoes by Jimmy Choo.”
The Duchess of Cambridge attended the Royal Wedding less than a month after giving birth to her third child, Prince Louis.
Prince George was also involved in the ceremony as a page boy for Prince Harry.
The royal couple said their nuptials today at St George’s chapel in Windsor, as they were officially announced as husband and wife.
Prince Harry looked emotional as he watched his bride walk down the aisle, telling her “you look amazing” as they met at the altar.
600 guests showed up for the Royal Wedding, along with several A-list celebrities including Serena Williams, James Corden, James Blunt, and Oprah Winfrey.
The newlywed Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be attending an after-party this evening, with Meghan is set to read out a heartfelt speech.
The royals were spotted leaving Windsor Castle in a silver blue Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero car to the evening reception hosted by the Prince of Wales at Frogmore House.
