Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch in British history, is still in charge.
A story to the contrary, saying that Elizabeth “officially” announced that her grandson, Prince William, would be named the next king of England briefly made the rounds over the Internet this week. A report from Closer Weekly on Wednesday sourced the report to Life & Style, which has nothing about a royal family shakeup on its website or Twitter account.

The timing, however, is perfect for the new teaser trailer for season two of the Elizabeth biographical Netflix series “The Crown.” The preview appeared online Thursday.
After all, the first line of the trailer is “The rumors … still haven’t gone away.”
Elizabeth, 91, has been queen since 1952. Her decades of ruling have made her ripe for hoaxes, with one last year claiming she died.
Last week, her husband, the 96-year-old Prince Philip, participated in his final solo public event.

Elizabeth’s son, Prince Charles, remains next in line for the throne.
