Inside the $10,000 Look Kate Middleton Wore in Paris
Kate Middleton isn’t afraid to wear a piece more than once. Nope. Her Royal Highness might splurge on a custom design every once in awhile, but she makes sure she gets the return from it, wearing the pieces multiple times. The result is a well-curated wardrobe that can pack quite the price tag. Take, for example, one of her latest looks on the Paris stop of the royal tour.

In this look, the statement piece was no doubt the Chanel dress, in a nod to French fashion. Though the price isn’t available at the moment, we’ll wager it was quite expensive. The piece seems to be bespoke, as we can’t find it in the latest collections, but an eagle-eyed Twitter user pointed out that it’s possible that it’s a take on a look from the brand’s pre-spring 2017 collection.
The dress does look like a streamlined version of one of those designs, cut into a fit-and-flare silhouette. And although we know that something bespoke from Chanel would definitely inflate the price tag, let’s set this component of Middleton’s look aside.
In addition to the dress, the Duchess decided to go with a few Chanel accessories. A thin monogram belt of calfskin accentuated her nipped waist and cost $850. Her quilted bag? That’s from the brand’s fall 2015 collection, retailing at $4,200. But there’s more.
A pair of earrings and a necklace from Cartier also made it into the lineup. The earrings were $2,040 and the necklace was $1,890. Adding those in, the royal ensemble already costs upwards of $8,000.
The Cartier bracelet watch on display is not new to Middleton’s fashionista fans. In fact, she’s been wearing it since 2014. That stainless steel piece adds another $4,600 to the overall price of the look. For the final cherry on top, the Duchess chose a pair of fringed leather pumps from Tod’s. They, too, are a staple of her wardrobe, having been unveiled last year. As a final component, they added on $665 to the look.
It was quite a look for gawking at a pickup game of rugby, but to be fair, the royals did have a busy schedule. After starting off at a venue that supports veterans and victims of terrorist attacks, they made their way to Musée d’Orsay and the Eiffel Tower. To close out the evening, Middleton swapped the Chanel for a look she’s worn previously: a red coat dress from the CH Carolina Herrera line. That double-breasted look, which she has worn before, went for $1,915 when it was in stores.
