Blue for a boy? Kate stuns in velvet floral dress- and William wears blue too
The Duchess of Cambridge stunned in a blue velvet gown as she and Prince William continued their royal tour, prompting speculation the couple could be expecting a boy as the Duke of Cambridge delivered a speech pledging to reinforce ties between Britain and Sweden.
Kate and William both wore blue as they attended an event at the Fotografiska Gallery in Stockholm, Sweden.
And Kensington Palace confirmed the Duchess wore a dress by Erdem and a coat by Ida Sjostedt.
Kate, 36, is around six months pregnant and so far the Royal Family have not revealed if she is expecting a prince or princess.
William and Kate, who are on a four-day tour of Sweden and Norway, met figures from the movie world, the arts, sport, and television at the gallery in Stockholm tonight.
They were joined by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel.
The couples greeted each other in the Swedish capital this afternoon on the second day of Wills and Kate’s Nordic tour.
Victoria and Daniel, who were guests at the Cambridges’ 2011 wedding and are getting to know their distant UK relatives, showed their growing bond with the British royals with the warmth of their welcome.
Delivering a speech at Fotografiska, the Duke of Cambridge paid tribute to Sweden.
The royal tour has been undertaken at the request of the Foreign Office and Prince William seized the opportunity to praise the Nordic nation.
He said: “It has been a great pleasure to be in Stockholm these last two days. Sweden is a country that holds a very special place in the heart of my family, and for all British people. And our expectations about this beautiful city have been more than fully met.”
The Duke suggested the Swedish Royal Family may soon be welcomed to London and thanked Crown Princess Victoria and her family for their company.
Reinforcing ties between Sweden and Britain, Prince William said: “Tomorrow, we are looking forward to meeting representatives of Sweden’s armed forces.
“There is a Swedish saying that I won’t attempt to say in Swedish but which translates in English something like, ‘It matters to you, too, when a neighbour’s wall is on fire.’
“Your security concerns are ours, and it is hugely important that we continue to work ever more closely together to reduce threats.

Wills and Kate high-fived children in Stockholm who had taken part in the Youth Aware of Mental Health programme run by the National Association for Suicide Research and Prevention of Mental Ill Health.
The royal party also visited the Karolinska Institute, a major medical academic research centre, to meet leading scientific researchers and practitioners to discuss groundbreaking academic work in developmental psychology, and Sweden’s approach to managing mental health challenges.
Kate has been pictured in her floral gown a day after she wore a forest green dress to meet King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden.
She wore the dark green outfit with black tights and black heeled court shoes.
Kate and Wills’ children George and Charlotte have not joined them on the tour because they are at school and nursery respectively.
Kate and William met Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel’s daughter Princess Estelle, 5, and one-year-old son Prince Oscar earlier today.
Princess Estelle was seen wearing a light grey dress and matching tights.
And Prince Oscar, who was born in March last year, was seen holding his mother’s and his sister’s hands to keep balance as he met Prince William.
The Duchess of Cambridge looked delighted to meet the smiling youngsters who are similar in age to her own children.
