Royal Baby FIRST official pictures: Kate releases precious photos of Prince Louis

KATE, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William have released the first official photos of their royal baby boy Prince Louis which were taken by the Duchess of Cambridge in the days after he was taken home to Kensington Palace.

The touching pictures show Prince Louis’s first days at home – including an adorable snap of the royal baby being cuddled by his big sister Princess Charlotte, who celebrated her third birthday last Wednesday.

Another picture shows Louis in a white outfit propped up on top of a white frilly cushion on a seat at the family residence in London.

The baby prince is not looking at the camera, but is wide-eyed and staring at something to the side.

The photo was taken by the Duchess of Cambridge at Kensington Palace when he was just three days old.

Prince Louis was welcome into the world in the Lindo Wing, at St Mary’s Hospital on April 23 and although he was photographed with his parents leaving the hospital wing, these latest pictures are the official photos released by the Palace.

A second photograph shows Louis receiving a tender kiss from his sister Princess Charlotte on her third birthday.

Louis appears to be sleeping soundly, as Charlotte puts a protective arm around her baby sibling and plants a kiss on his forehead.

Prince George, who appeared in the official photographs of Charlotte as a newborn, does not appear in either of the two new photographs.

The palace said William and Kate were “very pleased” to share the photographs, adding: “Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank members of the public for all of the kind messages they have received following the birth of Prince Louis, and for Princess Charlotte’s third birthday.”

This is not the first time Kate has gone behind the lens and previously released her own pictures of her young family.

Kate broke with tradition when she took the official photographs of a newborn baby Charlotte in 2015.

The photos of Charlotte showed the young princess being cradled by her older brother George at William and Kate’s Norfolk home, Anmer Hall.

Kate, a history of art graduate, has released pictures to mark other milestones in her children’s lives, including George and Charlotte’s first days at nursery school and Charlotte’s first birthday

Kensington Palace statement on behalf of William and Kate

The Duchess is a keen and amateur photographer who last year accepted a lifetime honorary membership of the Royal Photographic Society which recognised her “talent and enthusiasm”.

Kensington Palace yesterday revealed that Prince Louis will not be at his uncle Prince Harry’s royal wedding.

Following the announcement of Kate’s pregnancy last December speculation had been rife whether the new prince would attend Harry and Meghan Markle’s on May 19.

Louis, who will be nearly four weeks old at the time of the wedding, will remain home at Kensington Palace, while William and Kate attend Harry and Meghan’s big day at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

It is expected Prince George and Princess Charlotte will play a part in the ceremony after it was announced that Meghan had decided not to have a maid of honour, just bridesmaids and page boys.
