Kate Middleton: Why Prince William’s wife REFUSES to take part in one important royal tradition
THE Duchess of Cambridge doesn’t take part, but Princess Charlotte and Prince George will.

The royal family are known for their passion for horses, and equestrian activities are an age old tradition.
Queen Elizabeth II still rides even after celebrating her 91st birthday this year, and Prince William and Meghan Markle’s beau Prince Harry are known for their love of polo.
However, it’s one activity that Kate Middleton doesn’t get involved in – and there’s a good reason why.
Although it has been widely rumoured that Kate – who follows a strict set of rules – is allergic to horses, according to Marcia Moody, the author of Kate: A Biography, the hobby simply isn’t in her blood.

She told Town & Country: “Kate doesn’t ride, purely because she didn’t do it growing up.
“William and Harry were taught from an early age, but the only time they ride now is for polo – they don’t go off on hacks like the queen always has.”
However, while Kate prefers to watch from the sidelines, children Prince George and Princess Charlotte are thought to be following in their dad and Olympic media winner Zara Phillip’s footsteps and are learning already.
Last year Kate spoke with equestrian triple-gold medallist Natasha Baker at a reception at Buckingham Palace.

Recalling their conversation, Natasha said: “I asked her how the children were, and she said Charlotte is really enjoying her riding which is great to hear, and I said we may see her here on a line-up in 20 years time.”
Prince George has also reportedly received lessons with a source revealing to the Daily Mail he began lessons at two-years-old.

But while Kate isn’t keen to get on a horse – she’s never even been pictured riding one – she is a keen supporter and still attends equestrian events.
The Duchess of Cambridge is also reportedly keen for the kids to be involved, with a source saying: “William and Kate were keen to get George on a horse once he was walking confidently.”

They added: “George loved his first ride – he was led around a paddock on a rein and shrieked with delight. William and Kate were both there to watch.”
