PRINCE PHILIP has a had a successful hip operation. The husband of the Queen, who is 96-year-old, went into hospital for the planned procedure yesterday. He is now said to be “comfortable” after coming round from the op.
Prince Philip has a had a successful hip operation at Kind Edward VII hopsital in Marylebone.
A spokesman for Buckingham Palace said: “The Duke of Edinburgh has undergone a successful hip replacement operation. He is progressing satisfactorily at this early stage.
“His Royal Highness is likely to remain in hospital for several days. He is comfortable and in good spirits.
“Further updates will be issued when appropriate.”
The husband of the Queen had an operation on his hip.
Yesterday the palace said: “His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to King Edward VII hospital in London this afternoon for planned surgery on his hip, which will take place tomorrow,” a spokeswoman said.
Prince Philip’s health has been the focus of speculation for some time, given his grand age.
The Duke has missed three events over the past few weeks thanks to his hip, which has been causing him some problems.
Prince Philip will stay in hospital for several days after his operation to recover.
How old is Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh?
The husband of Elizabeth II is a whopping 96-years-old, and age anyone should be proud of.
The royal, a member of the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, married the Queen in 20 November 1947.
The former military man was born into the Greek and Danish royal families.
He is the Lord High Admiral of the Royal Navy and has the highest rank in all three branches of the Canadian Armed Forces.
He is also a Knight Grand Cross (GCVO) of the Royal Victorian Order.
Prince Philip’s health was a cause of concern for some Britons with some wondered whether he would make it to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.
However, after a successful hip replacement the Duke of Edinburgh should be fighting fit for his grandson’s wedding.
There are certain conditions upon which the Duke of Edinburgh will be able to attend the royal wedding, it has been said.
The Queen’s consort and husband has sought medical advice for a hip problem, after it got it the way of one of his favourite pursuits: carriage driving.
“Confronted by the possibility that an untreated hip complaint could prevent him participating in his beloved sport of carriage driving, he has accepted medical advice,” Richard Kay wrote on MailOnline.
However, it is said that if Prince Philip is in a condition to attend the Windsor Horse show on May 9, he will most likely be fit to attend the wedding 10 days later.
