Andrew looking grumpy on solo horse ride as Duke faces fears for future under Charles

Prince Andrew mourned the loss of his mother Queen Elizabeth II publicly with the rest of the Royal family, bringing him back into the public eye. However, his future within the Firm remains uncertain now that his brother Charles is King.

Prince Andrew, 62, was stripped of his titles in January after details emerged about his relationship with convicted paedophile, the late Jeffery Epstein.

It is believed that King Charles III was instrumental in the decision to strip his brother of the titles.

Despite Prince Andrew’s appearance at the state ceremonies for Her Majesty, it is not expected he will return to public life.

What titles Prince Andrew lost – and what he’s demanded back

The Duke of York was sensationally stripped of several royal patronages and military affiliations “with the Queen’s approval and agreement” back in January, but Andrew is thought to seek a return to royal life and has petitioned the Queen to have several titles returned to him.

The Prince was allowed to wear his ceremonial uniform at the Queen’s vigil. His last public appearance was in March at a memorial service to Philip, Duke of Edinburgh who died last year.

The Prince arrived with the Queen and helped her as she was using a walking stick. He helped her back out of the church at the end of the service.

Prince William and King Charles III reportedly raised concerns about the optics of allowing Prince Andrew to appear at such a major public event.

Both thought it was “unnecessary” to allow him to partake in such an event, according to The Mirror.

Now that Charles is King, he is reported to be planning a slimmed-down Monarchy which could lead to Andrew being kicked out his Windsor mansion as King Charles III reviews the Crown’s property portfolio.

Prince Andrew currently lives in the Windsor house with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and Her Majesty’s corgis, which he reportedly received following her death.

After Her Majesty died, Prince Andrew was seen speaking to well wishers and viewing tributes to the Queen at Balmoral Castle.

He attended public services for Her Majesty including a viewing while she was lying in state, Royal processions and the funeral.

However, victims of the sexual predator, and Prince Andrew’s admitted friend, Jeffery Epstein were said to be angry with the Prince’s return to the public eye.

The Prince was accused of sexual assault by Virginia Giuffre, a claim he strongly denied. In March 2022, Andrew settled the claim with Ms Giuffre for an undisclosed sum. The settlement was not an admission of guilt and the Duke has repeatedly and vehemently denied any wrongdoing.
