ZARA TINDALL and her husband Mike attended Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s spectacular royal wedding in May 2018. While Harry is said to be close to his big cousin Zara, her daughter Mia was not picked to be one of Meghan’s bridesmaids- but why?

Zara Tindall, 38, was pregnant with her second daughter Lena at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding. While Zara and Mike Tindall’s first daughter Mia was considered a likely choice for bridesmaid, the then four-year-old was not given a role on the day. There were 10 children in Meghan’s bridal party, but none of the Phillips’ offspring were among them.
As Harry’s big brother and best man, it’s no surprise Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge’s two oldest children Prince George and Princess Charlotte had star roles at the wedding.
The two Cambridge tots shone as members of the bridal party – but their little cousins did not get a look in.
Neither Zara’s offspring nor her brother Peter Phillips’ two daughters Savannah and Isla were picked to be part of Megan’s bridal party.

While there is a long history of young royals having key roles at family weddings Meghan and Harry moved away from this tradition.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex favoured the children of friends and godchildren for bridesmaids and page boys instead.
A royal commentator claims the real reason for the move was to ensure American bride Meghan “felt represented.”
Royal expert Duncan Larcombe told Good Housekeeping: “I guess they wanted Meghan to be represented and therefore not choose too many royals.”

While Prince Harry’s decision to not ask his cousins’ children to be involved in the nuptials was considered a surprising move by some, others believe these choices fell more within Meghan’s remit.
Ahead of the big day royal author Penny Junor said: “Harry was always very close to Peter and Zara.
“On the other hand, bridesmaids are often the choice of the bride rather than the groom and it may be that Meghan doesn’t know Mia and Savannah very well – if at all.”
Ms Junor also said “the issue of numbers” may have informed Meghan’s choices.
She added: “There’s also the issue of numbers. They have ten and twelve might have just been too many.”

Zara Tindall had a seat in the church and was captured looking uncomfortable during the ceremony.
Zara, who was pregnant at the time, has since revealed her look of discomfort was because baby Lena was kicking her throughout the ceremony.
Zara told the Telegraph: “It just wasn’t comfy at all and it probably showed on my face.”
“I was uncomfortable! My bum sort of slid over either side and Lena kicked the hell out of me for an hour.”
Since their big day, Meghan and Harry’s royal love story has begun another chapter with the arrival of their first son baby Archie Harrison on May 6, 2019.
The Sussexes will head to Africa for 10 days next week for their first royal tour as a family.
