SARAH FERGUSON, 59, is the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, also 59, but the couple have recently been sparking rumours they could soon remarry. The Queen usually has to approve royal marriages, but the pair could skip the formality for this reason.
Sarah Ferguson: I still watch my ‘incredible’ wedding video
Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew married in 1986 but it wasn’t meant to be and they separated just ten years later. They have two children together, Princess Beatrice, 30, and Princess Eugenie, 29, and claim to have stayed close for the sake of their family. However, the Duke and Duchess are often spotted out together and some royal fans are convinced they are set to remarry soon. The Queen’s approval is usually needed for those in the family to get married, but a royal law means there is now nothing stopping the couple.
Prince Andrew and Fergie back together more than 20 years after they divorced.
Sarah and Andrew announced their engagement on 19 March 1986 and got married on 23 July that year.
They wed in a televised ceremony at Westminster Abbey, when Prince Andrew was fourth in line to the throne.
Due to the Royal Marriage Act 1772, the pair had to get the Queen’s permission before tying the knot.
According to the law, the first six people in line to the British throne can’t get married without permission from the monarch.
Although they are divorced, Sarah and Andrew seem to be very close and the Duchess has used social media to share her pride for her ex-husband.

On top of that, she revealed they still live together at the Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park.
Until recently, the pair would have needed to seek approval again before they could get remarried.
However, when Prince Louis was born in April 2018, Prince Andrew was bumped off the top six in line to the throne.
After Prince Harry’s son, Archie Harrison, two months, was born in May this year, Andrew is now eighth in line and would not need permission.
ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship recently claimed the pair had reunited in a Tweet which read: “Royal relationship back on. Prince Andrew and Fergie back together more than 20 years after they divorced.”
