Why Meghan Markle won’t be wearing Kate Middleton’s tiara at the royal wedding?
Meghan Markle will definitely not be walking down the aisle wearing the same tiara Kate Middleton wore to her wedding in 2011. Here’s why:
The Royal wedding has been under investigation ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement last year; from who’s invited to who’s designing Meghan’s wedding dress, nothing hasn’t been covered…including what tiara Meghan will wear on her big day.
New reports suggest Meghan won’t be able to wear Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge’s tiara that she wore to her wedding to Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge.
According to People, the Cartier Halo tiara which Kate wore to the royal wedding in 2011, and which was loaned to Kate from Queen Elizabeth II, is on display at the National Gallery of Australia from March 30 through July 22 – meaning it won’t be available for Meghan to wear during her and Prince Harry’s May 19 nuptials.

At the exhibition formally titled ‘Cartier: The Exhibition’, the Cartier Halo tiara will be one of 300 tiaras, necklaces, brooches, earrings and other jewellery featured at the exhibition.

The tiara is said to be on loan from the Royal Collection Trust and the Queen, who received the tiara as an 18th birthday gift from her mother. The Queen Mother herself was given the tiara by Elizabeth’s father King George VI in 1936.
The exhibition also includes ‘Princess Grace of Monaco’s 10.48 carat diamond engagement ring, Dame Elizabeth Taylor’s diamond and ruby necklace, Dame Nellie Melba’s diamond stomacher brooch, and a selection from the National Gallery Australia’s exceptional Ballets Russes costumes’.

According to others, The Spencer Tiara, which was famously worn by Diana on her wedding day to Prince Charles in 1981, is likely to be a contender for Meghan’s upcoming nuptials at Windsor Castle, writes The Daily Mail. Others say she won’t wear a tiara at all, or will have one specially commissioned for her – like the Duchess of York on her wedding day.
