Why Meghan Markle always wears pink – experts reveal the surprising reason
MEGHAN MARKLE has been on many public engagements since her May Royal Wedding, making one surprising wardrobe choice at each event. The formally fashion-forward Duchess has only stepped out in either pink or white, but what’s the reason?
Meghan Markle, 36, is global fashion icon, known for her glamorous outfits and naturally effortless style.
Before her nuptials to Prince Harry, 33, in May, Meghan was known for her monochrome, sharp dressing.
Megan was usually spotted wearing lots of black, navy blue, denim, sharp tailoring and not much pale pink at all.
However since becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan has followed an unusual pattern when dressing for royal engagements, sticking to the same colour palate.
Unlike other royals who wear a variety of colours and cuts, notably the queen who is a lover of colour, Meghan has work either pale pink or white to all her royal engagements.
Meghan Markle: Why she wears so pink pink – experts reveal
The move is unusual for someone who has the designers of the world on call, but experts have revealed the real reason behind Meghan’s pink-centric wardrobe.
Speaking to the Mail Online, applied colour psychology practitioner Karen Haller said: “The number of high profile engagements Meghan has had since officially becoming a member of the royal family would no doubt be quite nerve-wracking.
“As the softer end of the pink spectrum is physically soothing, it’s the perfect antidote to calming those nerves and easing the pulse rate.”
Karen also revealed that Meghan might be communicating another message while wearing pink.
With pink being a ‘romantic’, the 36-year-old could be showing that she’s very much in love.
Meghan made her first appearance as a royal at Prince Charles’ 70th birthday party, where she wore a pink £590 Goat dress with sheer décolletage.
She complemented the blush dress with a matching pink Philip Traecy hat.
Shortly after she wore a very similar blush shade to the Trooping the Colour ceremony, where she wore a £3,402 Carolina Herrera dress with her favourite bardot neckline.
Not letting go of her favourite shade, Meghan also stepped out this week for the Queen’s Young Leader Awards at Buckingham Palace.
The event saw youth leaders from around the Commonwealth arriving in bold colours, even the Queen wore a colourful floral dress.
However, Meghan stuck with what she knew, wearing a blush pink Prada dress with button detailing.
With her birthday soon approaching, Meghan could be following in the footsteps of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
Diana was often spotted wearing pink shades to royal engagements, but was also known for her use of colour.
One thing Meghan will always have to carry now she’s a royal is a clutch bag, an item she rarely sported before she entered the royal family.
According to a royal expert, it represents her transformation from an ordinary person to a “member of royalty”.
