EXCLUSIVE: Diana thinks Kate is perfect but doesn’t believe Meghan’s ‘the one’: Confidante reveals the Princess still speaks to her from beyond the grave (and even told her to vote for Brexit)

Simone Simmons would speak to Princess for up to 10 hours on the phone
Still hears Diana’s voice even now, speaking about family and world events
Believes Harry’s ideal woman was a past girlfriend he’s already split up with
Says Diana was never in relationship with Dodi and was like a ‘therapist’ to him

One of Princess Diana’s closest confidantes has revealed how the late royal still speaks to her from beyond the grave almost 20 years after her death.

Simone Simmons from London, an alternative healer and trusted friend of the Princess, met her at the Hale Clinic – an alternative medicine centre – and became a member of her inner circle, often talking on the phone for up to 10 hours.

And she still hears Diana’s voice speaking to her, holding forth on everything from her beloved sons and their love lives to Brexit.

While she adores Kate and thinks she’s ‘perfect’, her comments to Simone indicate that she doesn’t believe Meghan Markle is the ideal woman for Harry.

‘It was a while ago when she did say who the right person was and Harry would know it when it happened,’ Simone told Femail. ‘Harry’s had other girlfriends in the past.

‘She thought one of them was a very good match but obviously it didn’t work it. Maybe because she couldn’t take the pressure in the end.’

The royal has also opened up to her about politics and urged her friend to vote for Brexit to restore the UK to its former glory, because she loved the country so much.

Simone also sheds new light on the Princess’ life based on their intimate chats, and insists that she was never romantically involved with Dodi Fayed; her desire to settle in the suburbs with Hasnat Khan, and her enduring love for Charles.

She would also don disguises, such as long dark wigs, so she could sneak out on cinema trips with William and Harry.

‘We talked about everything and anything,’ Simone recalled of her friend. ‘It’s very strange how I can still hear her. It’s very weird. I hear her voice speaking to me about world events, and being desperately in love with her grandchildren.

‘She was worried about Kate losing too much weight at one point. But she’s more than happy with Kate. Perfect.

‘She said what she wants for Harry is that she’s totally dependable, because he’s extremely sensitive.

‘He’s had quite a few girlfriends before, but the one testing point would be whoever it was would be able to hold him up and keep him afloat.

‘It was a while ago when she did say who the right person was and Harry would know it when it happened.

‘She thought one of them was a very good match but obviously it didn’t work it. Maybe because she couldn’t take the pressure in the end.’

Diana has also shared her views on politics with her friend, including her feelings on leaving the EU.

‘I know a lot of people aren’t going to like it but she said we’ve got to vote for Brexit.

‘Britain was great, economically and production wise and before we joined the EU. She was interested in the referendum and suggested I vote to leave because Britain was really great before the EU.

‘That’s the only political thing she’s ever said – because she loved the country. She loved the monarchy even though she criticised it.’

While Diana was alive, Simone was privy to some of her most intimate secrets and was one of the few people who knew about her two-year relationship with surgeon Hasnat Khan.

The relationship ended shortly before Diana was pictured with billionaire playboy Dodi Fayed, but her friend insists their ‘fling’ was not all it seemed.

‘It wasn’t even a fling. She was helping him to try to kick his habit,’ she said. ‘She was really trying to be his therapist. She didn’t fancy him in the slightest. Why on earth would she have tried to make Hasnat Khan jealous if she really liked Dodi?

‘From that point of view she was really naive emotionally. She was helping him because it’s a very, very long story. She shouldn’t have been with him, but she saw how I was when I was trying to help people with addictions.

‘He was selfish to the core. When the Studio 54 guy came out, I thought “good”.’

According to former owner Mark Fleischman’s new memoir Inside Studio 54,Dodi Fayed was a cocaine fiend who trawled illegal gay clubs at dawn looking for hedonistic highs.

‘Dodi loved Quaaludes, good quality coke and hot women and he always had plenty of those,’ he says in the upcoming memoir.

His father Mohamed has since hit back at the claims as ‘cheap and tawdry’ and says the author knew ‘nothing’ of his ‘kind, gentle, courteous’ son.

Aside from the fact that she was still in love with Hasnat, Simone insists that Dodi was not the kind of man Diana would have entertained a relationship with.

And she’s adamant that there was no romance, let alone a sexual relationship between the two.

‘Oh god no,’ she said. ‘She was still in love with Hasnat Khan and she’s not that sort of person.

‘Diana had a type. Dodi was no brain surgeon,’ she added. ‘She tended to go for more intelligent men, especially as she got older.

‘She was always attracted to men with intelligence who were thoughtful. She didn’t especially like men with hairy backs. You know how you talk about these things with your friends. When we started talking we were both saying “eww”.

‘All she wanted to do was make the world better. He was, I suppose, a little distraction. She was trying to get him healed because he wanted to get married to this woman Kelly. That’s why they went out looking at engagement rings.’

Dodi reportedly became engaged to model Kelly Fisher who he then apparently dumped in favour of the Princess.

‘She tried to tell people there was no relationship and nobody took the blindest bit of notice,’ Simone said. ‘You would have thought some people would use their common sense,’ she said.

‘She always kept her love affairs secret. Hasnat was secret for two years, expect for me and a few others.’

While she was with the heart surgeon, Diana apparently dreamed of a very different life away from the spotlight.

‘When she was with Hasnat she quite often talked about the semi in suburbia, two up two down,’ Simone said. ‘We had to be realistic. It was nice to dream. Everyone likes to dream when they’re happy and in a different world, in a dream world, she could do it.

‘But she wouldn’t have had a quieter life, she’d always have been doing her humanitarian work.

‘Her next massive project, and she’d already had meetings with Benazir Bhutto, was to stop child slavery in Pakistan. It was a huge project, really huge.

‘She wanted the government to put the children into education and make doctors, scientists, lawyers to make the country leaders in the field. Can you imagine taking on a project like that?

‘When Diana was alive she was the bright, spiritual healing in the world. When she died, that went. And look at the state the world’s been in ever since.

‘You don’t see celebrities going out in the middle of nowhere where it’s dangerous. She used to fork out money from her own pocket for charity.’

Of course, in addition to her charity work, her main focus in life was her beloved sons William and Harry.

Simone recalls Diana’s especially close bond with her younger son who was just 12-years-old when she died.

‘Sometimes Harry would skip school so that he could have Diana all to himself so he didn’t have to share her with William.

‘He’d sit on her lap with his head snuggled into her shoulder, sucking his thumb.

‘Even at 10 or 11, he liked to be with her. His mother was his best friend at that time.

‘Harry didn’t have any best friends. She was. He was really cute. He wanted me to decide what colour his bedroom was going to be.’

Simone said that Harry would ask her to come on the drive back to school, telling her: ‘Please come, I really, really want you to see their faces when we go to the drive-in McDonald’s and I ask for a big chips.’

Diana was determined for the boys to know about royal life beyond palace walls, and it was possible because they wouldn’t necessarily be recognised – and Diana had also found a way to avoid being spotted.

‘Sometimes Harry would skip school so that he could have Diana all to himself so he didn’t have to share her with William.
‘Diana would be in disguise. She met me at the door and said, “You’ve come to see the Princess”, walked up the stairs showed me into her private lounge and the boys were there roaring with laughter.

‘She was wearing a long dark wig with makeup to match and a very formal skirt and jacket, very secretary. I fell for it hook, line and sinker. She changed her accent so it was slightly more clipped and cut glass.’

On another occasion the pair were leaving an accupuncture clinic in Camden, North London when a man recognised Diana in the street, but she threw him off the scent by pretending to be a lookalike.

‘She just looked at him and in a really strong Brummie accent, she said: “Do you really think I look like her?”. It was very funny.’

Simone also reveals that despite the breakdown of Charles and Diana’s marriage and the strife they went through, she remained in love with the Prince even after their divorce.

‘She always loved Charles, even before she died,’ she recalled. ‘She got angry with him of course, but I don’t think there was ever a minute she stopped loving him.

‘Before she died, he kept popping over for cups of tea or to use the toilet. Any excuse. I even said, “Oi what’s going on here”.

‘After Hasnat had called it with her, she did wonder if her and Charles could ever get back together but it was no, Camilla will never let go.

‘In 1996 she told him to make an honest woman and he didn’t. For Diana it meant a lot even though he was free to do so. It was quite symbolic in many ways. I think it speaks volumes.

‘He was still in love with Diana. If they would have got married maybe six years later, she would have grown up a bit and they had the same interests, they had so much in common – organic farming, alternative medicine.

‘They would have made a go of it. I don’t believe there would have been any split. She wouldn’t have allowed Camilla to come between them. She truly was naive. She didn’t know.’

Diana was eager for her boys not to make the same mistakes as she had and discussed it at length with her friend.

‘Before Diana died we did have a very long talk and she said, “what do I tell my boys about love and marriage, because mine didn’t work?”.

‘We decided that as far as love goes, the best match would be to be married to their best friend. Someone they can talk to and share everything with, offload on to.

‘Someone they can lean on because of the pressure of their job. Just being princes is really hard work. So they need someone they can totally depend on.’
