Each one of them inspired countless wedding dress imitations, but the finishing touches made all the difference to the royal brides.
Their hair, make-up, flowers and jewellery have all been analysed in the years following their wedding days, but until now we’ve never been able to report on what we couldn’t see. However, Kate Middleton, Princess Diana and the Queen all chose their own unique perfumes for the day they said “I do”…and each is perfectly suited to their personalities.
Queen Elizabeth II wedding day perfume
While the Queen has never officially confirmed the name of her wedding day fragrance, the Telegraph UK says that experts believe she chose a perfume by British brand Floris. White Rose reportedly smells of the Queen’s favourite flower, carnations.
Floris is a brand which has been approved by the royals for nearly two centuries, and as a Queen who follows tradition, it would seem likely that she chose this scent for her wedding to Prince Philip.
Diana, Princess of Wales wedding day perfume
Quelques Fleurs by Houbigant Paris was notoriously Princess Diana’s favourite fragrance, and she chose to wear it on the day she married Prince Charles.
However, the perfume may have caused some problems…According to Brides, Diana accidentally knocked over her bottle, spilling the perfume on her beloved dress. She then tried to cover the stain as she walked down the aisle, but thankfully no-one appeared to notice the accident.
Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge wedding day perfume
Catherine has some impressive powers when it comes to making items of clothing sell-out – and her wedding day perfume was no different.
Clarence House confirmed that Kate wore White Gardenia Petals by Illuminum on her wedding day. In the hours afterwards, the brand reported that every single 50ml bottle of the scent had sold out. Impressive!
