THE houses of Cambridge and Sussex which comprise Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and Princes William and Harry, are set to split their joint charity, The Royal Foundation – and some royal insiders have claimed to know why.
Meghan Markle: Expert discusses ‘split’ from Royal Foundation
A royal staffer told the Sunday Times a break up in the charity would be a clear signal of a rift: “The foundation’s the one to watch. If it doesn’t hold together, that’s a real sign there’s a problem.” One of the Prince of Wales’s staff offered a reason behind the reported fallout: “William’s quite controlling, and he was in control when it was just the three of them, but now he’s not.
“I personally wouldn’t overegg Meghan’s role in all this because it’s unfair, but equally she knows what she’s doing as an actress from Hollywood.”
The Royal Foundation was set up in 2009 by Prince William and Prince Harry with Kate, Duchess of Cambridge joining in 2011 after her royal marriage in 2011.
Last February, nine months after Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle, all four made an appearance at a forum, but insiders seem to think that will never be repeated.
One from the charity told the Daily Mirror: “The forum was going to be an annual event and last year’s was supposed to be the first of many. It’s very sad it’s going to end like this.”

As reported by the Sunday Times, the two couples have had several clashes over the last years.
Harry was said to be “dismissive” of the Middleton family, although several of William’s friends were said to mock Kate’s mother Carole’s time as an air hostess.
William himself is reported to have asked “are you sure?” when discussing giving advice to his younger sibling before his proposal, and this increased tensions between the two brothers.
It is said William, who spent eight years courting Kate, was worried Harry was rushing into things, having only met Meghan months before getting engaged.

The wedding itself is said to be a scene of fallout with Kate and Meghan disagreeing over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress.
Some of Harry’s friends including Tom Inskip, a close friend from Harry’s Eton days were not invited to the wedding.
Times journalist Sophia Money-Coutts says an insider told her: “Anybody who voiced any kind of reservation about Meghan has been sidelined.”
Last year, it was confirmed that Harry and Meghan would not be living in Kensington Palace with William and Kate but moving to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, though their office is still in Kensington but will move to Buckingham Palace later this year.

Some have suggested this move is so the Queen, wary of repeats of the media attention surrounding Charles and Diana as well as the Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson, has done this to keep an eye on the couple.
However, Meghan is said to have upset royals by holding her baby shower in New York and it costing more than £300,000 without Buckingham Palace being aware.
Prince Charles is staying out of the supposed rift, feeling hesitant to get involved with their relationships.
