Prince Harry ‘to give Meghan Markle £100k engagement ring made from late mother Diana’s bracelet’
The 32-year-old royal has commissioned royal jeweller Harry Collins to create the emerald and platinum sparkler.
Prince Harry is designing an engagement ring for girlfriend Meghan Markle made from a bracelet of his late mother Diana’s bracelet, reports claim.
It’s believed the 32-year-old has commissioned royal jeweller Harry Collins to create the £100,000 emerald sparkler.
Harry has been dating Suits actress Meghan, 35, for a year and rumours have been circulating that he is preparing to propose soon.
The Daily Star Sunday reports that Harry is planning to propose with an £100,000 cushion set emerald and platinum ring.
The newspaper quoted a source as saying the ring is “flashy but not ostentatious.”
Harry is reportedly keen to marry Meghan sooner rather than later to ensure his grandfather Prince Philip can be at his big day.
The Duke of Edinburgh, 96, has been in ill health recently and it is though Harry hopes to break with the traditional two-year courtship for royal engagements.
The news comes as it emerged Harry wanted to quit being a royal but stayed for the Queen.
In an explosive new interview, the prince confessed how he “kicked his heels” for years before and considered leaving “The Firm.”
But Harry told how he was inspired into pursuing a role in charity work by his grandmother, The Queen.
He says that she motivated him pursue a role in charity work.
He told the Mail on Sunday : “There was a time I felt I wanted out.
“But then I decided to stay in [The Firm] and work out a role for myself.”
The popular prince, who has spearheaded a mental health campaign with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, tells how he is passionate about his charity work.
He added: “We are incredibly passionate with our charities and they have been chosen because they are on the path shown to me by our mother. I love charity stuff and meeting people.”
The prince has spoken candidly in the past about dealing with the death of his mother Princess Diana and revealed he sought professional help about his mental health.
Harry, fifth in line to the throne, also explained that he spent spent years not wanting to grow up during his time in the Army.
He added that at Eton he just wanted to be a “bad boy”.
The prince caused controversy last week by saying that no one in the royal family wants to be king or queen.
He clarified that he is committed to ensuring the Monarchy lasts and along with his older brother, wants to pull it into the 21st Century.
He said “There will be changes and pressure to get them right.
“Things are moving so fast, especially because of social media, so we are involved in modernising the Monarchy.”
Of his time in the army, Harry said: “Being in the army was the best escape I’ve ever had.
“I felt like I was really achieving something.”
Like his late mother Princess Diana, Harry said: “I have a deep understanding for all sorts of people from different backgrounds and felt like I was part of a team.
“I also wasn’t a prince. I was just Harry.”
Prince Harry and his girlfriend Meghan Markle are currently spending some rare time apart as he jets off to Africa without her.
Harry has headed to Malawi to stay in a luxurious £350-a-night camp where he’ll help take care of elephants and move some of them to an area where the resident elephant population has been wiped out.
