Sarah Ferguson opens up on ‘boyfriends’ – but admits Prince Andrew is STILL her ‘soulmate
SARAH Ferguson has opened about relationships with her “boyfriends” in an emotional interview where she admitted her ex-husband Prince Andrew is still her “soul mate”.
The Duchess of York, also known as Fergie, fondly referred to the father of her two daughters’ as her “bestest friend” as she opened up about the changes in their relationships following their 1996 divorce.
The mother-of-two also revealed how the pair still maintain the vows they said to one another when they tied the knot for their Royal Wedding on July 23 1986 in Westminster Abbey.
She told US magazine Harper Bazaar: “He’s a great man and a first-rate father and the bestest friend.
“I love him. He’s my soulmate. It’s actually what we said in front of God at the altar: we honour and respect each other until death do us part.
“The only thing is, he has girlfriends and I have boyfriends.”
Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, who still remain close friends, most recently put on a united front at their daughter Princess Eugenie’s Royal Wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October.
Speaking in 2011, Fergie also revealed she didn’t have a boyfriend at the time but would “love a boyfriend”.
The Duke and Duchess of York announced their separation in 1992 after spending a lot of time part while Prince Andrew was on royal duties.
I love him. He’s my soulmate
Just months later, photographs emerged of the redhead receiving a toe-sucking from oil tycoon John Bryan, who was described as her financial advisor and the couple divorced in 1996.
Sarah was staying at Balmoral when the images were published, and the Windsors came across them in the morning newspapers at the breakfast table.
Philip was said to be livid when pictures emerged.
In 2000, the Duchess of York previously said that she and her former husband had talked of remarrying but that Prince Philip forbade it.
But the pair, who have two daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, still remain firm friends and even share a residence.
During the 2016 interview, Sarah also spoke about sharing the Royal Lodge with her ex-husband.
She said: “I am very lucky to travel for my philanthropy, I’m a philanthro-preneur.
“So I’m in and out all the time, and he is in and out all the time.
“No we’re not married and we’re very happy with the way things are.
“No, I think the great thing is that we absolutely are the most extraordinary example of a unified family.”
