Sarah Ferguson: Meghan Markle is ‘the SAME’ as controversial Duchess, insists royal source

Sarah Ferguson: Meghan Markle is ‘the SAME’ as controversial Duchess, insists royal source is “the same” as Meghan Markle, fiancee of Prince Harry, according to a palace insider. The Duchess of York is said to have the same “colourful” and “interactive” character as Meghan.

Sarah Ferguson, 58, is said to be very similar to Meghan Markle, 36, the fiancee of Prince Harry, 33, according to a royal insider.

The Duchess of York married into the royal family back in 1986 when she wed Prince Andrew, Duke of York, 58, at Westminster Abbey.

Although the pair divorced in 1996, it is believed Sarah Ferguson still lives with Prince Andrew at the Royal Lodge.

What’s more, a palace insider told Express there are very clear similarities between Sarah and Meghan.

The two women are said to share “similar” personality traits, and to both be “colourful” by nature, according to the source.

“The Duchess of York is very colourful and very interactive. She has a particularly robust character.

“They’re similar, Meghan and the Duchess of York – it’s not a bad thing,” said the source.

The insider speculated that the Duke and Duchess of York’s doomed marriage – which ended in 1996 after 10 years – would have been “very different” today.

The couple reportedly spent a lot of time part while Prince Andrew was on royal duties, and separated in 1992. “It’s very different now, time wise. It’s more modern,” said the source.

Sarah was reportedly criticised by some of the royal family, with the late Princess Margaret reportedly writing a letter in 1995 saying: “You have done more to bring shame on the family than could ever have been imagined,” according to the Telegraph.

The source also confirmed that Sarah is invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding on May 19 2018.

“Yes she has been invited,” said the source, “So she will be there as long as she accepts the invitation.”

This was in contrast to Kate Middleton and Prince William’s wedding, which Sarah was not invited to.

Sarah has also been the guest of her ex-husband the Duke of York at a number of royal occasions, sometimes with the pair’s daughters, Princess Eugenie, 28, and Princess Beatrice, 29.

Her name appeared on the Court Circular – the official list of royal engagements – as the Duke of York’s guest in July last year.

It was recently revealed that Sarah Ferguson had a name she called Queen Elizabeth “in private”.

Queen Elizabeth II, 91, was once mother in law to Sarah Ferguson, 58, the ex wife of Prince Andrew, 58.

This relationship afforded Sarah certain liberties with Her Royal Highness in the past, including a secret name she used to call her in private settings.

In her book My Story, which she wrote in 1996, Sarah revealed she used to call the Queen “mama”.

“In private, I called her mama… When she waved me to sit next to her in the car or at church, I felt favoured and blessed.”
