SARAH FERGUSON has taken part in a Black Lives Matter campaign on social media making her the first member of the British Royal Family to honour George Floyd

Sarah Ferguson also known as ‘Fergie’ has paid tribute to George Floyd and taken part in a Black Lives Matter campaign on social media. Prince Andrew’s ex-wife posted a blackout square on Instagram on Tuesday with the caption: “Black Lives Matter #blackouttuesday.”

The Royal Family had so far remained silent as riots and protests have broken out across USA following the death of African American George Floyd, 46, who suffered a cardiac arrest while being restrained by a police officer who knelt on his neck for eight minutes.

Fergie was praised for the move on Twitter with many of her followers leaving comments.

One fan wrote: “Beautiful.”

Another put: “Thank you for doing this!”

The Black Out Tuesday Instagram campaign is a way to show solidarity with Black Lives Matter protests taking place across the world.

Supporters take part by posting a simple black square on Instagram.

Users also commit to not posting for the rest of the day after sharing the black square.

Sarah has been regularly sharing videos of herself reading storybooks for children throughout lockdown but will not do so on Tuesday afternoon.

While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have moved away from the royal bubble the couple have kept their roles as the President and Vice President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.

The youth organisation issued a statement on Tuesday about the ongoing protests in the USA.

The trust tweeted:”Young people are vital voices in the fight against injustice and racism around the world.

“As a global community of young leaders we stand together in pursuit of fairness and a better way forward.

“Silence is not an option. #BlackLivesMatter

“We all have the power to effect positive change.”

Sarah is spending lockdown with her ex-husband Prince Andrew, her daughter Princess Eugenie and son-in-law Jack Brooksbank at the Royal Lodge.

However, her daughter Princess Beatrice, 31, is isolating elsewhere with her fiance Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

On Monday Fergie, who has revealed she’s missing Beatrice shared a sweet tribute to her two daughters.

She posted an adorable throwback picture of the three of them together alongside a moving message about parenting.

Fergie’s Instagram post read: “To be a parent, is to never forget you were once a child or a teenager.

“So on this day of Global Parent Day … think united with love and understanding #globaldayofparents.”

Last week Beatrice and Edoardo marked their would-be wedding day and Sarah revealed she was sad not to be with them.

Speaking on a podcast ahead of the poignant day Sarah said: ”It’s sad for me that Beatrice, she was going to get married next week, but they postponed the wedding.

“Edo and Beatrice have been living with her future mother-in-law who is lovely. Great friend of mine.

“But I’m missing my other daughter but it’s just like everybody else, we are just the same family as everybody else.”
