PRINCESS DIANA played some outrageous pranks on Princess Michael of Kent at Kensington Palace, a royal documentary reveals

Princess Diana tried to ‘deprive’ Charles of throne says expert

Lady Gabriella Windsor is set to get married in her own royal wedding, following in the footsteps of Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie as she ties the knot at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, this weekend. Her mother is Princess Michael of Kent, who infamously did not get on with Princess Diana. 2017 Amazon Prime documentary “Princess Diana – The Woman Inside” heard from friends of the late Princess of Wales, who revealed that Diana used to play outrageous pranks on her fellow member of the Royal Family in the early Nineties.

The Daily Mail’s Richard Kay said: “She certainly liked a joke, she had particular targets of her jokes.

“Poor old Princess Michael of Kent, who was her closest neighbour, often was on the receiving end.”

Princess Diana’s personal trainer Carolan Brown explained: “I bought [Diana] an outfit to wear, which was a thong.

“Thongs were just coming into fitness-wear fashion, and she was very happy to wear it.”

Mr Kay continued: “Diana rushed out in a very revealing gym kit and surprised Princess Michael as she and a whole bunch of rather stuffy friends were going off to the races.”

Ms Brown added: “She wanted to embarrass them – which I think she did achieve!”

Mr Kay also recounted another incident when Diana and her friend Simone Simmons both had green avocado face-packs on and decided to play another prank.

He said: “They thrust their faces together out of the window looking like a pair of Martians, as Princess Michael was again about to get into a grand car to go somewhere important.”

Ms Simmons also tells the film that Diana asked her if she wanted to take a “beautiful cat” from the Palace home.

She said the princess told her: “This cat’s very, very unhappy living with Princess Michael, as is everybody else who lives there, so would you please take her home with you?”

However, when it emerged that the cat had a micro-chip, Diana reportedly laughed: “Wouldn’t it be funny if we both ended up in prison?”

Ms Simmons added: “She didn’t like Princess Michael of Kent and the feeing was mutual.”

Although the frosty relationship between the two royal women was well-known, it was not until 2005 that Princess Michael of Kent’s own words about Diana became public knowledge.

She was caught in a sting by notorious “Fake Sheikh” Mahzer Mahmoud, who also duped Sophie, Countess of Wessex in 2001, causing another scandal for the Palace.

Speaking in Channel 5 documentary “The Royal Family at War”, which aired in March, royal author Katie Nicholl said: “Princess Michael of Kent described Diana as nasty and bitter.

“She alleged that Charles was jealous of his wife’s fame.”

In the sting, Princess Michael also said that Diana was merely a “womb” for Charles, and gave her opinion that Prince William was then “too young” to marry Kate Middleton.

There was no love lost between Princess Michael of Kent and Princess Anne either, it seems.

Former royal aide Dickie Arbiter revealed in the documentary that it was Princess Anne who came up with her now-infamous nickname.

Mr Arbiter said: “She is very assertive, so Princess Anne nicknamed her Princess Pushy.”
