Royal Wedding: Prince Andrew HUGS Jack as groom GUSHES over the wife in emotional speeches
Prince Andrew and Jack Brooksbank have delivered emotional speeches at Princess Eugenie and her new husband’s wedding reception, with the groom describing his wife as the “light of my life”, following a spectacular royal wedding today at St George’s Chapel.
The Duke of York and Jack Brooksbank gave their speeches during the afternoon reception at Windsor Castle, organised by the Queen.
Andrew reportedly hugged his son-in-law in front of the Queen, in a break from royal tradition, as he addressed the newlyweds and their guests.
Romantic Mr Brooksbank’s speech was “filled with devotion to Eugenie”, with the groom telling his new wife that she “lights up his life and makes him feel complete” in a touching tribute, according to Mail Online.
One guest described Andrew’s wedding speech as “great”.
The guest said to Hello magazine: “Prince Andrew gave a great father-of-the-bride speech, there was some great anecdotes from childhood and all the way through to current affairs.
“He also touched upon how the dynamics of their relationship work.
“The one thing that made me cry was the Duke, when he said he was going to do something he’s never done before; he went over to his new son-in-law and hugged him. He isn’t a very tactile person.
“There was emotion from both sides of the family, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson and Jack’s family.”
It comes as the happy couple have left Windsor Castle to make their way to Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, the home of Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, for their evening celebrations.
Mr Brooksbank drove the Princess in a silver DB10 Aston Martin sports car and the pair waved excitedly to onlookers.
The impressive car was clearly a surprise for Eugenie, who said “wow” when she saw it. It is one of eight models made to film the 2015 James Bond film Spectre.
Doting father Andrew helped Eugenie arrange her train as she got into the vehicle.
Andrew followed close behind the newlyweds in a Rolls-Royce with Sarah and Princess Beatrice.
The bride’s parents, both 58, have remained close despite divorcing in 1996, previously describing themselves as the “world’s happiest unmarried couple”.
Earlier in the day, Eugenie and Mr Brooksbank beamed and waved as they left St George’s Chapel, following their royal wedding.
The Queen’s granddaughter kissed her new husband twice on the West Steps of the 15th century chapel.
Eugenie looked stunning in a gown which featured a low back, by British-based designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vo.
A star-studded congregation of 800 people attended the wedding, with more than 40 members of the royal family including the Queen, Prince Philip, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Kate Moss, Ellie Goulding, James Blunt, Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field were among the celebrities invited to the ceremony.
Eugenie was walked down the aisle by her proud father, followed by a group of eight young bridesmaids and page boys.
