KATE MIDDLETON almost had her royal wedding day ruined after one secret she was keen to keep out of the public eye was leaked.
Planning a wedding is a long and stressful affair, even for members of the Royal Family. When Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, married Prince William in 2011, they spent months planning every single detail of their nuptials. However, there was one detail surrounding the wedding that didn’t go to plan, and it reportedly left Kate in tears.
Excitement grew in the months leading up to the Cambridge’s big day back in 2011, and fans were curious about every detail.
Ahead of the wedding, there was a leak and the name of the designer behind Kate’s wedding dress was revealed in the press.
The leak revealed it was Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton who had designed the gorgeous ivory gown.
Speaking on Channel 5 documentary Secrets of the Royal Dressmakers, royal expert Katie Nicholl discussed how much this upset the future Duchess of Cambridge.

She said: “Behind the scenes I think that caused tears at the Palace because Kate had done everything she could to keep the wedding dress a secret.”
At the time, The Sunday Times reported: “The fashion secret of the year is out.
“When Catherine Middleton marries Prince William in Westminster Abbey she will be wearing a dress designed by Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander McQueen, one of Britain’s edgiest labels.
“A fashion source said that the dress will be a combination of Middleton’s own design ideas and Burton’s deep knowledge and understanding of high fashion.”

Ms Burton denied any involvement until she was officially announced as Kate’s wedding dress designer.
And despite the initial leak might have upset the Duchess of Cambridge, it didn’t seem to bother her on the big day.
Her dress was a stunning ivory gown with a satin bodice and lace sleeves.
Ms Burton used traditional Carrickmacross craftsmanship in making the dress, a technique which dates back to the 1800s.

It was a huge hit with fashion critics and fans around the world and many brides have worn similar designs following Kate and William’s wedding.
Wedding dress designer Caroline Castigliano says the big reveal was still special, even though the designer had been leaked.
She said: “Everybody loved Kate’s dress. That excitement when she stepped out, it was just ‘wow’.
“Incredible. She looked sensational. Even now it gives me butterflies.”
