PRINCESS ANNE gave a cryptic response when asked whether the rumours she had started a “full-scale family row” by not attending Prince Harry’s christening were true, unearthed reports reveal.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s eight-week-old baby, Archie Harrison, was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury at Windsor Castle on Saturday, in front of an intimate group of just 25 friends and family. The couple shared pictures of the special day on their official Instagram, taken by photographer Chris Allerton in Windsor Castle’s Green Drawing Room and Rose Garden. The caption reads: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son.
“They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment.”
Featured in the family photo is baby Archie, Meghan and Prince Harry, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Prince of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes.
The christening seems to have then gone without any issues, but the royal occasions have not always been plain sailing.
A feud simmering inside the Royal Family came into the open when Princess Anne reportedly snubbed Prince Charles and Princess Diana by refusing to attend Prince Harry’s christening at Windsor Castle.

According to a 1984 report by the Daily Express, Princess Anne went game shooting with then-husband Mark Phillips on their Gatecombe Park estate in Gloucestershire instead.
Royal correspondent Ashley Walton wrote that the couple’s “deliberate” absence fuelled reports that Anne was angry at being overlooked as godmother for the second time.
The royal correspondent also noted that Prince Charles’s decision to leave his sister off the list of six godparents annoyed Prince Philip.
She said: “There were rumours that Charles and his father were not on speaking terms as a result.”
The year later, broadcast on Australian television, Princess Anne was asked by journalist and broadcaster Terry Wogan whether the rumours she was feuding with the Princess of Wales were true.
After laughing, Anne replied: “Usually, it is not worth saying anything because the fact that it was just a story in the first place, you know they will take anything you say and it will come out on their side.”
The late TV presenter noted: “I think it was based on your non-appearance at the famous christening…”

In what was then seen as a “cryptic” answer, Princess Anne said: “Yes, it was a great shame that we missed the christening.
“But I was only given the choice of one day.
“As far as we were concerned, it was a date my husband had fixed and he was away in Australia when all this came up.”
Sir Terry Wogan joked: “You are blaming Captain Phillips for it?”
The Princess Royal added laughing: “Not totally.
“It was actually one of those rare occasions when we had actually made a plan a long way in advance, which is rare with us.
“We had received a lot of hospitality from people over the years and this was really one move.
“We are paying them.
“We felt we couldn’t really put it off.”
