MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry wanted to live with the Queen but were turned down, according to reports. Here’s how Meghan and Prince Harry’s bid to live at Windsor Castle was rejected by the monarch.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had their sights set on Windsor Castle before they were politely parred off by the Queen. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were keen to move in with their grandparents but had their bid turned down, the Sunday Times reported. Here’s how Queen Elizabeth II said no to Meghan and Harry moving in with her.
While Meghan and Harry seem to have settled into life at Windsor Castle with their three-month-old son Archie Harrison, it wasn’t their first choice of home.
Following their royal wedding, last May the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly wished to live at the big house and move in with Her Majesty at Windsor Castle.
The couple are said to have politely asked the Queen whether living quarters could be made available for them in the castle following their marriage.

However, the Queen tactfully dismissed them by suggesting they took Frogmore Cottage instead.
Royal author and deputy Lord lieutenant of Berkshire, Hugo Vickers, told the Sunday Times: “There are empty bedrooms and suites in the private apartments which the Sussex’s may have had their eye on, or perhaps some former living quarters in the castle grounds converted into other things.
“But I can see how it might not be entirely appropriate to have a young family living there.”

While Frogmore Cottage is not quite the castle Meghan and Harry had hoped for, the five-bedroom residence received a £2.4 million revamp before they moved in.
The extensive renovations were funded with public money and Meghan and Harry faced backlash from those who felt it was unfair taxpayers should foot the bill.
Windsor has a special place in both Meghan and Harry’s hearts as they were married there in St George’s Chapel.
Their son Archie was christened in a private ceremony at Windsor Castle’s chapel in July.

The Duke and Duchess are understood to have chosen Windsor for their family home so they can raise their son Archie out of the public eye.
They moved away from Kensington Palace in April ahead of Archie’s birth.
The proud parents are said to be building an extensive outdoor play area for Archie in the home’s grounds.
They have also ordered more trees to be planted around Frogmore Cottage’s borders in order to protect their growing son’s privacy.
While Meghan and Harry are believed to be at home in Windsor they have jetted off on two holidays already this summer.
The pair are reported to have taken Archie with them to Ibiza to celebrate mum Meghan’s 38th birthday on August 4.
The Sussex family have since been spotted landing in Nice, France just days after their Ibiza jaunt.
