Royal shock: How Prince George and Barron Trump ‘have key thing in common’

857

PRINCE GEORGE and Barron Trump both have famous parents but they have something else in common that is far more intriguing.

George, 6, is the eldest child of Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, and is third in line to the throne. Barron, 14, is the youngest child of US President Donald Trump and only child of First Lady Melania Trump. Both boys have been thrust into the limelight at a young age, with George being photographed almost as soon as he was born, while Barron attracting attention after his father was elected President when he was 10.

However, they have something else in common in that they have both been sent to schools that use unusual new methods of teaching.

Barron attends St Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland, where it is believed he is coming to the end of eighth grade.

The school is known for its pioneering use of brain-based research to guide teaching and learning.

The website explains: “At St Andrew’s, every member of our Preschool through Grade 12 faculty is trained in Mind, Brain and Education Science.

“This knowledge of how the brain learns allows teachers to take the latest research and implement it in their classrooms.”

This was a break from the tradition that children of US presidents attend Sidwell Friends School.

Sidwell Friends was the school of choice for the Obamas, the Clintons, the Nixons and the Roosevelts ‒ and no other school had been attended by a president’s child in the 35 years before Mr Trump’s inauguration.

Melania released a statement ahead of Barron’s arrival at the school saying that the family were “excited” for him to start there.

She said: “[St Andrew’s] is known for its diverse community and commitment to academic excellence.

“The mission of St Andrew’s is ‘to know and inspire each child in an inclusive community dedicated to exceptional learning, teaching, and service,’ all of which appealed to our family.”

Meanwhile, George started his education at Westacre Montessori School Nursery, near the family’s former home in Anmer Hall, Norfolk.

Montessori schools use an unusual teaching method, which involves allowing the child to do what they want to do, as well as learning practical skills that mean they can do it themselves.

Fans say it fosters independence and Montessori children have better educational outcomes, while critics say the results are mixed and inconclusive.

As the future King, the ability to think and act independently will be a vital skill.

The price of this nursery was around £33/day and 23 out of the 27 children attending received help in funding.

While at first glance there might not be much in common between William and Kate and Donald and Melania Trump, the decision to send their children to schools using these unusual, new teaching methods shows they both care deeply about their kids and are willing to try new things.

However, the Cambridges have since moved to Kensington Palace and their children now attend different schools.

Charlotte, 5, started her education at the Willcocks Nursery School, near Kensington Palace in January 2018.

Now, both George and Charlotte attend the private Thomas’s School in Battersea.

Prince Louis, who has just turned two, is still too young to attend school or nursery.

Before Barron moved to Washington DC to live in the White House, he attended Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York City, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

The young Trump has four older half-siblings from his father’s previous marriages.

Donald Jnr, 42, Ivanka, 38 and Eric, 36 are all children from President Trump’s 18-year marriage to Ivana, while Tiffany, 26, was born to his second wife Marla Maples, who he was married to for 6 years.

However, Barron is actually closer in age to some of his nieces and nephews than he is to his siblings.

Donald Trump Jnr has five children with his ex-wife Vanessa, Ivanka has three with her husband Jared Kushner and Eric has two with his wife Lara.
