QUEEN Elizabeth II is often seen carrying a purse on her royal visits and has been revealed to always take an unusual item in her bag.
Her Majesty’s preferred handbags are reportedly from the British brand Launer. The Queen owns more than 200 Launer bags according to the Daily Telegraph.
She is mostly seen wearing three of the brand’s bag styles – the black leather Royale, the black patent Traviata, and a third custom handbag.
Launer has been apart of the royal family’s wardrobe since the 1950s when the Queen Mother first purchased one of their bags.
She then gifted a Launer bag to her daughter, Queen Elizabeth II.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Launer CEO Gerald Bodmer said Her Majesty “doesn’t feel fully dressed without her handbag”.

He said: “But if the Queen doesn’t like what we’ve made her, she won’t wear it. She definitely knows what she wants.”
The Queen awarded Launer a royal warrant in 1968.
Biographer Sally Bedell Smith, who wrote the book Elizabeth the Queen: The Woman Behind the Throne, claimed that Her Majesty carries a small mirror, lipstick, a foundation pen, reading glasses and mint lozenges in her handbag.
As revealed in Ms Bedell Smith’s book, the surprising item the Queen carries inside her bag is a portable hook which she reportedly uses to hang her purse discreetly under tables when seated.

Jean Wills, the Queen’s cousin and a dinner guest at the Berkshire home, said she was surprised to see Her Majesty carrying the item according to the Telegraph.
She said: “I watched the Queen open her handbag and remove a white suction cup and discreetly spit into it.
“The Queen then attached the cup to the underside of the table.
“The cup had a hook on it, and she attached her handbag to it.”

Ms Bedell Smith claimed in her book the most important items in Her Majesty’s handbag are her small mirror and lipstick.
The Queen is reportedly known to apply a touch up of lipstick when sitting at the table.
Ms Bedell Smith wrote: “At the end of a luncheon or a dinner, even a banquet set with silver gilt and antique porcelain, she has the somewhat outré habit of opening her bag, pulling out a compact and reapplying her lipstick.
“When First Lady Laura Bush made a similar cosmetic fix during a Washington ladies’ luncheon, she cheerily commented, ‘The Queen told me it was all right to do it’.”
For the ladies-in-waiting, Ms Bedell Smith explained how it is their responsibility to carry necessities such as an extra pair of gloves, needles, thread and safety pins for emergency repairs.
Author Phil Dampier claimed that the Queen carries more personal items in her handbag.
In his book What’s In The Queen’s Handbag: And Other Royal Secrets, Mr Dampier said Her majesty carries a collection of good luck charms given to her by her children.
He said these include miniature dogs, horses and saddles.

Royal historian Hugo Vickers told People magazine that the Queen sometimes uses her handbag to signal when she wants to end a conversation.
Mr Vickers said Her Majesty shifts her bag from one hand to the other to make the indication.
He added: “Luckily, they’d let you down easy.
“It would be done very nicely. Someone would come along and say ‘Sir, the Archbishop of Canterbury would very much like to meet you’.”
