The note featured a picture of Prince George beaming in an England football shirt. On the back of the photograph the royal couple praised the “most thoughtful” fans for their “kind thought” of wishing their son a Happy Birthday. The photograph was one of three images taken by Kate and released on George’s sixth birthday earlier this summer.

MailOnline believes the pictures were taken at Kensington Palace during the England “lionesses’ recent world cup campaign.

It added the top is one of the Prince’s favourite items of clothing and he can often be seen tearing around Kensington Palace with a football.

The back of the card featured a note from the royal couple, reading: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appreciated your kind thought in writing to Prince George on the occasion of his sixth birthday.”

It went on: “This was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their best wishes.”

Royal fans celebrated receiving a similar thank you note earlier this summer from Prince William following his 37th birthday.

The card included a picture of the Prince when he appeared in GQ magazine.

A message accompanied the photo which said: “The Duke of Cambridge is most grateful to you for writing as you did on the occasion of his 37th birthday.

Her cards read: “The Duchess of Sussex was so touched by your very kind Birthday wishes.

“Her Royal Highness sends her warmest thanks for your thoughtfulness and wishes you all the best.”

Royal fans were delighted with their thank you cards, however a few noticed the cards arrived in Kensington Palace envelopes.

Eyebrows were raised as Harry and Meghan’s Royal office is now located in Buckingham Palace, not Kensington.

Buckingham Palace oversees the Queen’s office as well as the office of the Sussex family.

Kensington Palace incorporates the offices of The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke and Duchess of Kent and also Prince William and Kate.
