Royal feud: Inside William and Harry’s relationship before royal split

PRINCE HARRY and Prince William have reportedly recently fallen out of favour with each other – but before the fall out they had a very close relationship.

Prince Harry and Prince William have long been two of the most popular royals. The brother’s have lived their lives in the public eye, and have always shared a close relationship. Sadly the brothers have grown apart over the years as they move their separate ways with their families and careers.

“Their relationship is incredibly intimate,” Princess Diana’s biographer Andrew Morton revealed in the November 2019 edition of Royals Monthly.

“Nobody apart from each other knows exactly — not even their father — what’s gone on in their heads and their hearts for the last 20-odd years.

“They both experienced the loss of their mother. The only people that they could trust to talk about it in a candid way was each of them.”

The boys were 15 and 12 when their mother tragically died, an event that has naturally bonded them.

During a speech on the 10-year anniversary of his mother’s death, Harry said: “William and I can separate life into two parts. There are the years that we were blessed beside us with the physical presence of both our mother and father.

“And then there are the 10 years since our mother’s death.

“She was our guardian, friend and protector. She never once allowed her unfaltering love for us to go unspoken or undemonstrated.

“Behind the media glare, to us, two children, she was quite simply the best mother in the world.”

Since then they have worked together countless times on royal engagements and launched joint charities together.

Their Heads Up campaign for mental health awareness has been particularly successful, and even Harry credited William for helping him seek mental health counselling after struggling with Diana’s death as an adult.

William and his now sister in law Meghan have reportedly always got on well, and William has always been complimentary of the Duchess of Sussex.

When the Sussexes announced their engagement, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released a warm statement saying: “We are very excited for Harry and Meghan.

“It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.”

William was best man at Harry’s 2018 wedding, as Harry was at William’s in 2011.

It wasn’t long after Harry and Meghan’s wedding when the cracks started to show between the two.

The rift reportedly began before the wedding, when William gently warned his brother to take things slowly with Meghan, which Harry did not take well to.

Meghan and Harry have been careful to never publicly talk about any specifics of the supposed rift after the 2019 in which he said in an ITV documentary: “We are brothers. We will always be brothers.

“We are certainly on different paths at the moment, but I will always be there for him as I know he will always be there for me.”

In early 2020, the Sussexes announced they were leaving the Royal Family and embarked on a new life in the states.

The new biography of the Sussexes has only doused fuel on the fire – with a multitude of allegations about the Cambridge’s conduct towards the couple.

According to Finding Freedom, Harry, who was once close to his niece and nephew Prince George and Princess Charlotte, stopped going round for family visits to the Cambridges’ apartment at Kensington Palace and spent less time with Prince Louis than any of the other children because of the fall out with William.

It details how the Sussexes felt they had no choice but to quit the Royal Family in part because they felt stifled and patronised by courtiers who they believed had a vendetta against them.

It also claims that Kate refused to form a close relationship with Meghan, and that Meghan felt left out despite her best efforts to fit in.

It is unclear whether the royal brothers are on the same page currently, and whether they are friends or not.

They did their last royal engagement together in March 2020, joining the Queen and other senior royals at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.

The brothers have also separated their charities, with Harry dissolving his royal charities and giving up his patronages.
