Prince Philip health fears: Duke forced to miss THREE events over the dodgy hip
Prince Philip did not attend the Royals’ Easter Sunday church service yesterday with monarchists across Britain worried for his health.
The 96-year-old has missed three events in 10 days, sparking fresh fears his hip problem could be more serious than it first appeared.
Philip missed the Maundy Money service on Thursday – where the Queen distributes coins to members.
The ‘Iron Duke’ also could not be present for Prince Andrew’s introduction to the role of Colonel of the Grenadier Guards the week before.
A courtier said: “The Duke of Edinburgh has an issue with his hip which is affecting his mobility.
“There’s no cause for alarm but frankly he’s a proud man and doesn’t want to appear crocked in public.
“He’s not called the Iron Duke for nothing.”
And on Easter Sunday, the Queen attended her annual church service alone – leaving Philip at home.
Prince Philip stepped down from his extensive royal duties last summer as he announce dhis retirement.
But Buckingham Palace continues to insist that stepping back from royal engagements is not a sign of declining health.
Prince Philip’s retirement has piled pressure on Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge to ramp up their public duties – especially with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry only just getting used to their new roles within public life.
Ms Markle and Prince Harry, who are set to marry on May 19, did not attend the Easter Sunday service – because they were on a “private engagement.”
The ‘Suits’ actor hit the headlines this week, however, as a tell-all book about her first marriage detailed how she divorced her first husband “out of the blue” – and returned her wedding bands to Trevor Engelson by post.
Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, on the other hand, raised eyebrows at yesterday’s Easter Sunday service when they did arrive – late – to Windsor Castle.
The glowing Duchess donned a black coat, as she proudly presented her burgeoning baby bump.
She went on maternity leave a short while ago, having carried out her last royal engagement before the birth of her third child at St Luke’s Community Centre in Islington, North London.
At the ‘Commonwealth Big Lunch,’ the Duchess of Cambridge revealed Prince George and Prince Charlotte love playing with pizza dough at their Windsor residence.
The Royal couple are expecting their third baby this month – with rumours the baby could even arrive on the Queen’s birthday on April 21 or Wills and /kate’s anniversary on April 29.
