Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton feud rumors grab their fair share of headlines, but how truthful is the gossip? What about Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship? One royal expert is shining a light on how much royal feuding is actually taking place.
Are Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton feuding?
The media has had plenty of gossip to fuel the fire of a feud between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton. It turns out, according to one royal filmmaker, that this simply isn’t the case.
Nick Bullen has been making shows about the British royal family for 20 years and has worked closely with Prince Charles as well. As such, he has some insider knowledge of the royals and explained recently that the Markle and Middleton feud rumors tend to take center stage because of the women involved.
Bullen explained to Fox News that the reason “comes out in the ‘Royal View’ [the TrueRoyalty.tv talk show] — and what comes out is that it’s a much sexier story to have two duchesses at war.”
Bullen noted: “Let’s have these two super glamorous women — one British, one American. One an actress, one sort of an English rose. Let’s put them against each other,” adding, “that’s the sexy sort of media story.”
Prince William and Prince Harry actually “have had a rift”
It turns out that the friction has actually been between Prince William and Prince Harry and not their wives. Bullen explained, “It’s actually that William and Harry have had a rift. I think you know, look. All brothers fall out. All families fall out. Their fallout at the moment is becoming public.”
The royal filmmaker added: “I think people don’t want to think about that with these two boys. These are two boys who lost their mother [Princess Diana] at a really early age, and the fairytale is that they are closer than ever, and need each other, and I think that’s probably true, but equally they are two grown men in their 30s, starting their own families, different wives, they are moving to different parts of the country, different duties.”
Will the royals work through the feud?
Bullen went on to note that he believed it was “really, really sad” that the brothers have a “rift,” noting, “because you don’t want to hear this, but again, it goes back to them being real people. We forget that they are people. We’ve all fallen out with our brothers and sisters over the years, and hopefully, it’ll be fine.”
He added, “I think the Prince of Wales and the queen are working incredibly hard to try and make sure everybody reunites. But it is, we were surprised to hear that it was the brothers.”
TrueRoyalty.tv host Tim Vincent also shared that the idea of the brothers in a “rift” comes from a “well-placed” guest of the show, sharing: “It’s the two princes that don’t get on. The actual wives actually are still finding their feet or have found their feet, and they’re very happy in the situation they find themselves, but it’s the brothers themselves who have been closer than anybody up until now.”
Does the media exaggerate about the royals feuding?
Whether or not the princes are fighting isn’t totally clear, but Us Weekly noted last year that the drama between the Duchesses is “definitely being played up,” according to a source, who added, “Are they the best of friends? No. Do they speak every waking second? No. Do they hate each other? Absolutely not.”
The insider added that Markle and Middeton are “two women under serious amounts of pressure, stress and under a huge spotlight that no one can relate to — they will always have a bond that no one can break.”
