MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry’s son Archie will be christened at Windsor Castle this weekend. As royal baby fever hits fans all across the globe, a newly-resurfaced report reveals how tensions in the Royal Family arose at Prince Harry’s own christening, when Princess Anne refused to attend.
Baby Archie will be christened in a private ceremony in Windsor Castle on Saturday. A statement issued by Buckingham Palace on July 3 reads: “Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will be christened in a small private ceremony by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday 6th July. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex look forward to sharing some images taken on the day by photographer Chris Allerton.
“The godparents, keeping with their wishes, will remain private.”
The exclusive venue means members of the public will not get to see little Archie arrive and leave the church as many had hoped they would.
The decision has sparked criticism, as it comes days after it was revealed the public footed the couple’s £2.4million bill for renovating their home, Frogmore Cottage.
Penny Junor, who has penned a biography on Prince Harry, claimed making the christening private was a “mistake” and said the Duke and Duchess “can’t have it both ways”.

It is not the first time a royal christening has caused tension, as in 1985, Prince Harry’s own ceremony was also incredibly controversial.
A private row simmering inside the Royal Family came into the open when Princess Anne snubbed Prince Charles and Princess Diana by refusing to attend Prince Harry’s christening at Windsor Castle.
According to a 1984 report by the Daily Express, Princess Anne went game shooting with then-husband Mark Phillips on their Gatecombe Park estate in Gloucestershire instead.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement after the ceremony: “Unfortunately neither of them could make it.
“They will be arriving in Windsor later in the day.”
Royal correspondent Ashley Walton wrote that the couple’s “deliberate” absence fuelled reports that Anne was angry at being overlooked as godmother for the second time.

She was said to have been hurt when Prince Charles failed to pick her as godmother to Prince William.
Ms Walton said: “Her displeasure grew into a full-scale family row when she learned that her younger brother Andrew was to be godfather to three-month-old Prince Harry, while she was again omitted.
“The Royal Family confidently expected Anne and Mark to arrive yesterday for the 11 am ceremony.
“But as the baby was being baptised, the guns were blazing 100 miles away at Gatecombe Park.”
The royal correspondent noted that Prince Charles’s decision to leave his sister off the list of six godparents also annoyed Prince Philip.
She added: “There were rumours that Charles and his father were not on speaking terms as a result.”
