Royal apology: Kate apologises for disappointing royal fan, 3, who wanted ‘real princess’

KATE had to issue an apology to a three-year-old after the little girl was upset the Duchess of Cambridge “didn’t look like Cinderella”. Kate and Prince William were on a royal trip to south Wales, when the pair met Rhian Costello and her daughter Annabel.

Annabel was very excited to meet a “real life princess” but was completely disheartened when Kate showed up wearing not what the little girl had expected. Instead of a Disney-inspired glitzy ball gown, Kate wore a navy Hobbs coat, Zara dress and a beautiful Beulah London scarf. The Duchess ended up apologising “for not wearing a pretty dress” in an adorable conversation with the little girl.

She gave the royal a “huge hug” as Kate welcomed the embrace. The mother hopes that her daughter will look back in ten years and realise how amazing her encounter was. Kate and William started their day in South Wales by greeting volunteers at the RNLI station, one of the busiest charities in Wales. The pair were smiling and in good spirits as they boarded a lifeboat and spoke to the volunteers about their day-to-day tasks. The couple also visited an ice cream parlour, where William gushed about his three children.

William compared his daughter, Charlotte, to his “lovely wife” (Image: Getty) William compared his daughter, Charlotte, to his “lovely wife” and told stories about the kids’ bedtimes. He saw a young girl reading Julia Donaldson’s Room On The Broom during a visit to an ice cream shop and said: “I read this to our children all the time.” The Duke also joked that it had saved many bedtimes, and revealed he told the author “do you realise how many parents you have saved at bedtime?” He met the author when she received a CBE for her services to literature. The second-in-line to the British throne also added: “David Walliams also does really good books for children — for a little bit older children I think. “I have read one, and it was really good.”

Meanwhile Kate has said  spending time together as a family was her favourite thing to do. So, it is not surprising that these doting parents often ask for their royal engagements to be finished in time for the children’s bedtimes.
