REVEALED: Why Prince Charles may have ‘CLOSER’ bond with Princess Charlotte than George
PRINCE Charles may have formed a closer bond to Princess Charlotte than Prince George, following his long-standing wish to have a daughter.
Charles is known to have a close relationship with his grandchildren – five year old Prince George, three year old Princess Charlotte and six month old Prince Louis.
However, it is believe the prince may have formed a closer relationship with second born Princess Charlotte, as he always longed to have a daughter, the late Princess Diana revealed.
Diana in a 1991 interview revealed how Charles’ wish to have a baby girl sparked a negative turn in her marriage.
Charles had always wanted to have a daughter, and expressed his disappointment after Harry was born, according to the late Princess Diana.
In Andrew Morton’s book on Diana’s life, Diana: Her True Story, the late princess revealed the sentence Charles said to her when Harry was born: “Oh God, it’s a boy.”
Diana is said to have known the gender of her baby before Charles was born, but kept it a secret from him because she knew he always “wanted a girl”.
The princess was very hurt by her husband’s comment, and said that her marriage “went down the drain” after that moment.
She even told her mother, Frances Shand Kydd, how Charles was “so disappointed – we thought it would be a girl”.
In 2014, Prince Charles had also reportedly “hoped” his son, Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge would have a baby girl.
The prince’s wish finally came true after Princess Charlotte was born in 2015.
The grandfather-of-three has even proudly put up a family portrait taken after Prince Louis’ christening, featuring all his three grandchildren, including wife Camilla, Meghan, Harry, Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.
In a video taken inside the future king’s home, Charles put on display a lovely photo of his family in a green frame.
The clip was shared on Twitter ahead of Charles’ Royal Tour of West Africa with the Duchess of Cornwall.
The caption of the video reads: “Tomorrow The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall arrive in The Gambia for the start of the Royal visit to West Africa. Listen to The Prince speak about how much he is looking forward to.”
Despite his longing wish to have a daughter, Prince Charles has formed an especially close relationship with Kate and William’s first born, Prince George.
A few years ago, Charles refurbished William’s old treehouse so George could play in it, and he also added a shepherd’s hut to his garden for his son to enjoy.
The Prince of Wales has even named a group of trees in his Scottish arboretum after the young royal, calling it “George’s wood.”
In a documentary titled Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, the prince said: “I hope it will be quite amusing for George, as they grow up, and he grows up.”
