REVEALED: Princess Diana’s SAVAGE reaction to biggest SCANDAL to ever rock Royal Family
Princess Eugenie’s parents, the Duke and Duchess of York, broke up in 1992 following “irreconcilable differences” – but months later a huge scandal rocked the Royal Family.
Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, both 58, will be eagerly awaiting their daughter Eugenie’s marriage to her long-term partner Jack Brooksbank on Friday.
The lavish ceremony, which is due to take place at Windsor Castle, is reportedly going to cost the UK taxpayer as much as £2million.
But before Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson – known as “Fergie” – proudly enjoy their daughter’s nuptials, their presence may stir unwanted memories for the Royal Family.
The Duke and Duchess of York were married in 1986 – but only six years later their marriage ended in disaster, sparking an all-out Royal scandal.
Just a few months after the couple announced their split in 1992, the Daily Mirror published compromising photographs of the Duchess and her “financial advisor”.
Royal writer Richard Kay said in the Daily Mail he had received a message from Princess Diana the night before the photos surfaced in the press.
Mr Kay claimed Diana had written to him in a pager message.
The People’s Princess is reported to have said: “The redhead’s in trouble.”
The photos, taken at a holiday villa in St. Tropez, prompted one of the biggest scandals to ever befall the British Royal Family.
Intimate shots – taken with a telephoto lens – showed Texan millionaire John Bryan kissing and sucking the toes of the Duchess.
Further images showed the couple canoodling and fondling by the pool.
Before the pictures emerged in the papers, Mr Kay said he got a phone call from Mr Bryan who had assured Fergie everything would be okay.
Mr Kay said: “Bryan promised her everything would be fine, but I could see in his face that he didn’t really believe it.
“In a few short hours, those pictures were going to be on the breakfast room sideboard in the Queen’s castle.
“They would also be winging around the world to be pored over by millions.”
But one thing got to Mr Bryan about the way the photos were covered by the media.
According to Mr Kay, he said: “I wasn’t sucking her toes, I was kissing them!”
