THE QUEEN’S favourite TV show has been revealed in a new interview with the Radio Times.
The Durrells, an ITV drama, has been a smash hit, with Brits begging the broadcaster for more episodes throughout lockdown. It ran for four seasons and ended in 2019, with the show returning to TV throughout lockdown. Josh O’Connor, who plays Larry Durrell, exposed the royals love for the show in an interview with Radio Times.
Mr O’Connor chatted about how he discovered that the Queen is a fan of the show.
He said: “A crew member [from the The Crown] came to me one day and distracted me by talking about The Durrells.
“Previously, they had taken a photo of me [in character as Prince Charles] and sent it to someone, who’d sent it to someone else, who’d then sent it to someone else.
“As they were explaining it, I’d lost interest about who the photo had been sent to.”

Despite Mr O’Connor’s boredom with the story, he ended up shocked with the royal revelation.
The actor continued: “The crew member said that someone who saw the picture told him, ‘I loved him in The Durrells, it’s one of my favourite shows.’
“I just said, ‘Oh, that’s good,’ thanked him and walked off.
“They said it was the most under-appreciated reply to their story.
“Because the fan they were talking about was the Queen.
“This crew member has managed to get this picture of me to the Queen who’d said that she loved me in The Durrells!“

Mr O’Connor has also give fans new hopes for a spin-off for the hugely popular series.
He said: “I can of course, see a life for the show beyond this in whatever form that takes.
“But I think, for now, we’re celebrating the fact we’re a huge success with beautiful stories written by Simon Nye, incredible directors, incredible cast, and I think we’re just celebrating that.”
Her Majesty previously was revealed to also be a fan of The Crown.
The Netflix drama is all about Queen Elizabeth’s reign, from her wedding to Prince Phillip to the early 21st century.
Vanessa Kirby, who played Princess Margret in the first two seasons of the show, revealed the royal’s love for the show.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar magazine in 2018, she said: “A friend of mine was at a party and didn’t know anyone, so he sidled up to this group who were talking about The Crown.

Mrs Kirby continued: “One girl said, ‘Well, my granny watches it and really likes it’.
“It slowly dawned on him that the girl was Eugenie and her granny was the Queen.
She added: “We’ve heard that Philip doesn’t watch it – he can’t be bothered.”
A royal source confirmed that the family love the show: “Edward and Sophie love The Crown.
“It has been a long-standing arrangement that they drive to Windsor at the weekend to join the Queen for an informal supper while watching TV or a film.”
