QUEEN ELIZABETH II has had a difficult few months like many during the coronavirus pandemic – isolating away from her family and missing key royal events. But how many grandchildren does the Queen have?
Queen Elizabeth II has faced upheaval in recent months, unable to carry out public duties and having to isolate in Windsor Castle with Prince Philip due to coronavirus. This also meant the Queen’s official birthday celebrations, Trooping the Colour, were rather lonely with no Royal Family members present.
However, the Queen has recently had some happy news to lift the lockdown boredom.
Her granddaughter Princess Eugenie has announced she is expecting her first child with husband Jack Brooksbank.
The happy news came today, with a statement from Buckingham Palace and an Instagram post from Eugenie herself.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021.

“The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news.”
Eugenie and Jack’s baby will be the Queen’s ninth great-grandchild and is due to arrive early in 2021.
The royal baby will also be Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew’s first grandchild – after a busy few months for the York family.
Eugenie’s older sister Beatrice married her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in July in an intimate lockdown ceremony.
